Sie untersucht die Frage, ob und wie sinnvoll der personzentrierte Ansatz als Unterrichtsform unter Betrachtung der zehn Merkmale guten Unterrichts nach H. Meyer sein kann. Wenn gleich bewusst ist, dass damit die Frage, warum der Ansatz so wenig diskutiert wird, nicht beantwortet werden kann und auch nicht in vollem Umfang und aus allen Perspektiven betrachtet Argumente gesammelt und aufgezeigt werden können. So kann dennoch eine Sichtweise erleuchtet werden, die den Blick in das Geschehen, genauer in den Unterricht selbst wirft und dort Ansatzpunkte für die Diskussion sucht. Hierfür wird im ersten Schritt ein Blick auf den personzentrierten Ansatz als Psychotherapie nach Rogers geworfen, um ihn in seiner ursprünglichen Form betrachten und kennenlernen zu können, bevor er als Ansatz für den schulischen Unterricht in Deutschland, definiert durch Tausch und Tausch, dargestellt wird. Im Anschluss daran werden die zehn Merkmale guten Unterrichts nach Meyer beschrieben und als Vergleichsgegenstand für die anschließende Diskussion, die sich den Argumenten für und wider den Ansatz als Unterrichtsform aus einer praxisnahen Perspektive widmet, verwendet. Innerhalb der Psychotherapie gilt Rogers als Revolutionär und sein personzentrierter Ansatz ist ein längst etablierter mit "Gang-und-Gebe-Charakter". Auch in der Beratung der Sozialen Arbeit ist der personzentrierte Ansatz keine Unbekannte. Umso wunderlicher ist es, dass in der (Schul-)Pädagogik, die sich der Psychologie, als eine ihrer Teildisziplinen gerne bedient, dieser Ansatz so zögerlich diskutiert wird. Wo doch das Wort 'Person', dicht gefolgt von dem Wort 'zentriert' jede*n Pädagog*in hellhörig machen und dessen*deren Herz höherschlagen lassen sollte.
