Relatos cortos, escritos hace tiempo y publicados por aquí y por allá. "Los perros" surgió de haber estado trabajando unos meses en un geriátrico platense. A los abuelitos les daban un calmante para que se estuvieran tranquilos, y eso me asqueó de tal manera que durante meses la idea me rondó la cabeza. Demoré dos años en escribir este relato, cosa de locos. No soy un tipo prolífico a la hora de producir lo propio, aunque me guste tanto."Querida Mahoney" fue un experimento. Se trata de un relato un poco absurdo sobre alguien que trabaja para el Estado espiando a las personas. Andábamos saliendo de los años de oscuridad de la Dictadura militar, así que el Estado se parecía mucho a un enemigo en lugar de algo en lo que confiar. El protagonista del relato está obsesionado con una mujer que adolece de frivolidad y es inmortal.El tercer relato, "El corazón del bosque", nació como una protesta ante la destrucción de la naturaleza. Supongo que hoy lo considerarían un cuento ecológico. En el relato, un niño a quien llaman El Pez toma una decisión imposible. Lo curioso es que muchos de los elementos del relato se parecen a los de la película Avatar de James Cameron. Es un mundo cubierto por una selva luminosa, con nativos de piel azul y un gran sentido de pertenencia a la tierra. El Hombre ya ha estado antes en El Arco, y ahora viene de regreso a establecer una colonia. ¡Como se parece demasiado, quiero reiterar que el cuento es muy anterior a la película!El siguiente relato, "Clásico de amor", es un ensayo humorístico. Aquí el protagonista es forzado a contratar un robot de compañía por uno de esos típicos vendedores inescrupulosos, y las cosas no salen muy bien que digamos. Durante unos meses, yo había estado trabajando como vendedor puerta a puerta y supongo que de no escribirlo hubiera necesitado un psicólogo. Y esos son los relatos. Los restantes componentes de esta pequeña compilación son entradas de blog que escribí en la década anterior. Quise agregarlos porque creo que tienen valor intrínseco. A muchos podría servirles. "El puño de Dios" apareció -y sigue ahí- en la bitácora de un querido amigo mexicano, a quien nunca conocí en persona pero a quien estimo mucho, el "Tío Joe", don Jorge Tirado. El blog, Muelle 66, recibió el pequeño texto con los brazos abiertos, a pesar de que su contenido puede herir la sensibilidad de algunas personas."La trastienda del Cielo" es parte de un blog que escribí a manera de descarga luego de perder a mi querida esposa tras una larga y cruel enfermedad. No hay diversión aquí, pero sí creo que el lector podrá encontrar algo que le resulte valioso. El libro cierra con un brevísimo artículo sobre Blade Runner que escribí para una web especializada en cine que nunca llegó a ser realidad. Quise incluirlo porque me parece un final apropiado y lleno de esperanzas.
