About the Book

Penumbra is a second collection of poetry by author and actor Tim Dalgleish. As you read it feels like you are walking through a large mysterious room and picking up random objects (the poems). The room is crowded with all kinds of things and like an old fashioned museum or cabinet of curiosities one makes strange and unexpected connections. Poems about literary heroes George Orwell, Pablo Neruda, Fernando Pessoa, appear next to poems on Love, Memory, Murder and all manner of emotions.
About the Author: Tim Dalgleish is an actor, writer and filmmaker. He writes for the 'History of Britain Magazine' and is the author of a variety of books in different genres. His first short book was 'The Guerilla Philosopher' a literary study of the prolific writer and philosopher Colin Wilson. He followed this with 'Lifting it of the Page' an oral history about The Open University and its origins. 'Reflections In The Mirror City' edited by Mark Niel includes a selection of his poetry. 'Scotland Before Scotland: Alt Clut the Kingdom of The Rock' is a fascinating account of a forgotten ancient celtic kingdom. At present he's working on a book called 'Playing Macbeth - An Actor's Journey'. His first book of poetry was 'The Stones of Mithras' a traveller's reflections on Spain, with evocative images of its ancient cities. He's also a playwright with a dozen plays to his name including: a co-writing credit on Carabosse Theatre Company's recent adaptation of 'Gormenghast' the Penguin Classic by Mervyn Peake (endorsed by his son Fabian Peake), 'The Collector' an authorized adaptation of John Fowles' novel and 'Artaud' a biographical play about the French playwright. As an actor he has been in a number of films most recently in the independent feature film '2025' and 'Imagine' a film for the charity 'Hope for Hollie'. His directorial debut 'Beat' (a short documentary on Allen Ginsberg) was selected for the Flux Film Festival. In 2012 he was Snout in 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' at the RSC's Open Stages showcase in Stratford-upon-Avon and Macbeth in the Open Theatre Group's production of 'Macbeth'. He worked with 'Voices of the Holocaust Theatre Company' (2013-4) acting, co-writing and touring with the plays 'Meaning' and 'Fragile Fire'. At present he is continuing his work with Carabosse Theatre producing new plays and also works with the Theatre in Education Company Shires Rep. In 2015 he was tour manager and CSM for Big Pants and Botox by Louise Roche and starring 'The Bill's' Mary Jo Randle (most recently seen in the BBC's 'Wolf Hall').
