O Movimento "Pentecostal" e o "Neopentecostal" são considerados uma das mais populares e crescentes forças da cristandade nos nossos dias. As principais características doutrinárias desses movimentos, que provoca o crescimento dessas Igrejas, é o "batismo do ou com Espírito Santo," "o dom de línguas," "as profecias," "o dom de curas e a ênfase na experiência pessoal." Muito embora crescimento e popularidade sejam evidentemente desejáveis, eles não podem ser usados como um teste para aprovar práticas que a si mesma, se consideram como verdadeiras, porque várias seitas heréticas e falsas religiões também têm alcançado grande popularidade e crescimento usando os mesmos procedimentos. O movimento Pentecostal e Neopentecostal é um fenômeno do século vinte e suas práticas e ensinos são diferentes dos que os cristãos reformados têm ensinado. Acreditamos ser sensato examinar esses ensinos à luz das Escrituras. Não estamos, portanto, dizendo que esses irmãos não são cristãos, mas colocando em dúvida a origem do que eles dizem ser um mover do Espírito Santo! Estaremos examinando suas práticas não porque temos algo pessoal contra essas pessoas, ao contrário, as amamos e queremos nos encontrar no céu. Devemos ser como os crentes de Bereia e analisar todas essas práticas à luz das Escrituras Sagradas. Deus nos ordena a "julgar todas as coisas" (1Ts 5:21). Somos exortados a nos "apegar à palavra fiel" e a "convencer os que contradizem" (Tt 1:9). Assim, oferecemos este trabalho no espírito do amor cristão, amor por nossos irmãos, e acima de tudo, pela verdade de Deus. Ao examinarmos qualquer assunto, a pergunta mais importante é "o que diz as Escrituras" (Gl 4:30)? Por que essa preocupação com a doutrina e esses movimentos que veem surgindo nos últimos tempos? A resposta está na Bíblia. Os apóstolos escreveram alguns livros da Bíblia para combater o ensino herético, que corrompia a palavra de Deus, o próprio Jesus combateu a doutrina dos fariseus porque era desprovida de amor e do conhecimento de Deus. Vejamos o que diz Mateus 16:12: "Então, entenderam que não lhes dissera que se acautelassem do fermento de pães, mas da doutrina dos fariseus e dos saduceus." Jesus estava preocupado com a doutrina que estava sendo ensinada ao povo. Em Marcos 7: 6-7 Ele acusa os religiosos da Sua época de ensinar doutrinas que são preceitos de homens. O que isso quer dizer? Ora! Eram doutrinas que foram desviadas dos seus propósitos originais, para benefício próprio: "Respondeu-lhe: Bem profetizou Isaías a respeito de vós, hipócritas, como está escrito: Este povo honra-me com os lábios, mas o seu coração está longe de mim. Em vão me adoram, ensinando doutrinas que são preceitos de homens." O apóstolo Paulo também estava bastante preocupado com as falsas doutrinas que surgiam a cada dia, porque contaminavam os crentes levando muitos a se desviarem do verdadeiro conhecimento de Deus: "[...] para que não mais sejamos como meninos, agitado de um lado para outro e levados ao redor por todo vento de doutrina, pela artimanha dos homens, pela astúcia com que induzem ao erro" (Ef.4:14). Os pais da Igreja defenderam a fé contra o mundo e as heresias que surgiam dentro da própria Igreja: Justino o Mártir (100 - 165 d. C.), Irineu (130 - 200 d. C. anti-gnostico), Tertuliano (160 - 230 a. C.), Clemente de Alexandria (155 - 255 a. C.) foram alguns dos que se importou com a sã doutrina. Portanto, como cristãos fiéis, devemos também, nos importar com a verdade e defender a fé que uma vez foi dada aos santos. Soli Deo Gloria!
