About the Book

English summary: Did Athens, the birthplace of democracy, invent the oligarchy? It certainly did not imagine entrusting the government of the City to a small number of leaders (even though it repeatedly experienced this sort of regime). It is more likely that it simply designed the word that named the regime, the concept that defined it, and the reasoning that justified it. This book will therefore analyze the origin of the concept of oligarchy.
