When the death of a ninety-seven year old WW II veteran initiates a three-sided political tug-of-war between the British, American and Israeli governments, British PM Giles Heaton calls on his head of SIS for an explanation. The answer, it seems, is not all that simple, its roots lying in the distant past where prior to December 1941, the United States was in an internal battle between political and social factions clamoring for involvement or isolation. The newly formed OSS launches a mission to find irrefutable proof of what's happening to the Jewish people in Europe, proof that will sway the mood to intervention while Britain's SOE foments a plan with the exiled Czech government to inspire their occupied country and show the Nazis they are not untouchable. The two groups cross paths as each tries to make its way out of wartime Germany after completing their separate missions. One group's success has led to a massive search by the Nazis while the other's success depends on eluding the search. Joining forces, with the might of the German Reich on their heels, they try to overcome the odds and prevent further loss of innocent lives only to have their efforts result in one of history's most violent events with repercussions in existence to the present day.
About the Author: A life-long resident of the Midwestern town he features in the majority of his books, Gary Johnston began fulfilling a bucket list long before it ever became popular to do so. In fact, long before anyone ever heard of one. He met his wife ballroom dancing and they've won a few competitions; he's danced on stage live with the Sesame Street troupe (arm in arm with Big Bird and Grover); he's cooked breakfast for a long-time Wisconsin senator; and he's watched his daughter perform live at Lincoln Center. Twelve times he's been the plate umpire in a game matching the #1  men's fastpitch softball teams in the world. He's attended a World Series game; a Packers playoff game at Lambeau Field; and he watched the Yankees play in old Yankee Stadium. He's bowled a 300 game. He's bought lunch for a girl featured in a Playboy pictorial who stopped in while he was managing a restaurant; he's been the editor of a world-wide magazine for Beer Can Collectors and written articles for another one. He is certainly not the most interesting man in the world but he does seldom drink beer and when he does it is most certainly not Dos Equis.
