Seit Jahrzehnten belegen wissenschaftliche Untersuchungen und betriebliche Erfahrungen immer wieder, dass die Einhaltung von Pausen und zusätzliche Erholungszeiten lohnende Maßnahmen zur Erhaltung der Leistungsfähigkeit und Gesundheit sind. Daher sollte man davon ausgehen, dass Unternehmen und ihre Mitarbeiter diese Tatsache verstanden haben und der Pause besondere Aufmerksamkeit zukommen lassen. In vielen Ländern ist dies bereits der Fall. Pausen werden aktiv genutzt, um sich zu regenerieren. Beispielhaft hierfür ist das Joggen in der Mittagspause zu einer Selbstverständlichkeit geworden. Spätestens seit Ende der 1980er Jahre, insbesondere nach den Änderungen der Strukturreform im Gesundheitswesen und im Sozialgesetzbuch, den Vorschritten Arbeitsschutzrahmenrichtlinien der Europäischen Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft und mit dem Arbeitsschutzgesetz von 1996, werden psychische Belastungen in den Arbeits- und Gesundheitsschutz einbezogen. Daher herrscht in der Fachwelt weitgehende Übereinstimmung darin, dass präventive Maßnahmen und die Reduktion der mit solchen Belastungen verbundenen Beeinträchtigungen von Beschäftigten zunehmende Aufmerksamkeit verdienen....
