Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2019 im Fachbereich Kunst - Kunstgeschichte, Note: 2,0, Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg (Kulturwissenschaften), Veranstaltung: Mythos Kindheit - Repräsentationen in Kunst und Gesellschaft, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In dieser Hausarbeit wird der Mythos "Kindheit" nach dem Verständnis von Roland Barthes in dem gesellschaftlichen Familienbild traditioneller und moderner Familien untersucht und anschließend mit den Kindesmotiven in Modersohn-Beckers Werken verglichen. Insbesondere die Werke "Kniende Mutter mit Kind an der Brust" und "Selbstbildnis am 6. Hochzeitstag" werden dabei unter die Lupe genommen und mit dem Werk "Mutter und Kind" von Max Liebermann verglichen. Kinder und Frauen auf Zeichnungen, Gemälden oder Skulpturen festzuhalten, hat eine Tradition, die bis in die Antike zurückreicht. Kinder galten als größte Hoffnung für die Gesellschaft, schon bevor die spezifische, kindliche Körperlichkeit und die Seele des Kindes anerkannt wurde. Über den Wandel von dem Mythos "Kindheit" oder dem Mythos "Mutter" im Laufe der Jahrhunderte lässt sich medial berichten. Erst ab dem 14./15. Jahrhundert wandeln sich religiöse Darstellungen zu Alltagssituationen. Bis ins 17. Jahrhundert wurden Kinder in der Kunst kaum dargestellt und man erkannte ein Kind in der Kunst nur, da es kleiner dargestellt wurde als die Erwachsenen. Bis zum Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts orientierten sich die Künstler hauptsächlich an einem religiösen Hintergrund und/oder wurden idealisierend dargestellt. Betrachtet man die Darstellungen der Mutter-Kind-Beziehung bei Paula Modersohn Becker, so kann eine Beschreibung und Analyse der Kunstwerke und das Erkennen einer gesellschaftlichen Veränderung nicht ohne Vergleich von vorherigen Darstellungen geschehen. Paula Modersohn Becker galt neben Pablo Picasso als eine der größten Kinderbildnismaler/-innen zu Beginn des 20.Jahrhunderts.
