About the Book

Readers of Parenting is Hard, Suffering is Optional will feel relieved to know they are not alone in their struggle to master one of the most difficult jobs on the planet. Parenting is a unique challenge faced by an enormous percentage of the population, yet all parents privately struggle to be the parent they really want to be. Parents with disabled or challenging children will laugh and cry along with Kimberlee Anne King as she shares her struggle to seek enlightenment through her exceptional children and what they have taught her about herself. Parents of typically abled children will feel invigorated by the fresh perspective on parenting Kimberlee offers: focus on yourself because that is all one can truly control.
About the Author: Kimberlee King is an educational consultant and parenting coach. Her company, Inspired Attention, Inc., is a coaching and consulting organization that specializes in unique types of individuals and businesses. Their deep understanding of AD/HD tendencies, really bright people who may be struggling, the entrepreneurial spirit, and the desire for radical change enables them to support their clients to achieve sustainable growth. Kimberlee is a speaker on the needs and development of the gifted and learning disabled and/or emotionally challenged. Kimberlee has lectured at universities, public and private schools, parent groups, and conferences. Kimberlee is also a trained life coach. She has served on the board of trustees of an independent school for gifted children and on the board of an organization that serves as a channel for best practices and an incubator for new ideas in educating, guiding and parenting gifted children and teens. Kimberlee's specific area of concern is how the brain learns and processes information especially as it relates to diverse learners (AD/HD, dyslexia, giftedness, slow processing, learning disabilities, perfectionism and anxiety... to name a few). This knowledge applies equally to adults, and often the parents of these complex children gain insight about themselves as they work to better understand their children. Kim excels at partnering with schools and teachers to help them understand the best approach when working with these unique students with amazing potential. This knowledge of how the brain learns coupled with her own experience as a clever dyslexic who went undiagnosed throughout most of her lifetime, has landed Kimberlee in the unique position of being able to empathize deeply with families struggling to help their very bright child thrive in a world that was not designed with their processing styles in mind. Kimberlee also has four children and three stepchildren who are each uniquely gifted and challenged. Her passion is to offer understanding and to share her heart with those parents who do not want to go it alone. Kimberlee received her Bachelors of Business Administration in Economics from the University of Iowa in 1991. She graduated with Honors and also spent a semester abroad at Cambridge University in England. Kimberlee went on to work as an Information Systems Consultant before becoming a full time mother. Kimberlee is currently working on her MhD in metaphysics from Delphi University.
