About the Book

This "Grades 7-12 Classroom Kit" in a book of "The Five Finger Paragraph(c)" method is for Seventh through Twelfth Grade students and college freshman. This Kit-in-a-book contains: Teacher Edition, 2 formats of the Student Edition (1 in the book; information for second Student Edition below), 7 Charts that facilitate learning, printable Transparencies of those Charts, Quick Guide Cards and Bookmarkers. Paperback. Also available in ebook format. Instructions include complete paragraph and essay construction. Quite effective when used as subsequent or remedial instruction material for students who function at grade level or below. Excellent in helping students prepare for the SAT/ACT exams, because one of the three methods focuses on the timed essay test in those exams. Three methods of formatting essays are included, with accommodations made for several learning styles. Excellent when used as subsequent or remedial instruction material for students who function at grade level or below. Illustrations on almost every page. Student Edition in the Kit includes free online access to a print format version for more economical printing, dual-sided. The color-coded methods used to teach paragraph and essay writing are very kinesthetic in nature, augmented by vividly colorful illustrations that have helped thousands of students, around the world, compile a well-formatted five paragraph essay, which is the standard required in Middle School and High School, as well as later for all SAT/ACT exams and high school exit exams. This book is priced much lower than fully printed kits in the past to allow the purchaser to print copies of the Student Editions from information provided in this book. It is recommended that (1)the Charts, Quick Guide Cards and Bookmarkers be printed and laminated for continual re-use in the classroom (charts may be written on with dry erase or Vis-a-Vis markers); (2)the Transparencies be printed onto transparency film for use on overhead projectors (use the same dry erase or Vis-a-Vis markers); and (3)that up to 14 copies of the Student Edition be printed for use in the classroom (license allows printing of up to 14 copies of either or both versions of the Student Edition). FREE downloads of practice charts, transparencies (ready to print), Ancillary Materials, and a print-ready Student Edition are all included in the price of the book, available from author's website (retrieval information in book).
About the Author: Johnnie W. Lewis is the author and self-taught illustrator of "The Five Finger Paragraph(c)" and "The Writing Police" series of books and Learning Aids, "Flutterbye, the Butterfly" series of books (an entire Science/Nature unit in each book), along with novels, memoirs, and how-to books. As a Navy brat, Johnnie moved so often that she missed many things. As a college freshman, she found out that one of the most important things missing from her education was how to write an essay. After failing one English course and almost failing it the second time, she suddenly realized one day in class, at the age of 24, HOW to format that essay to guarantee an "A"!! She never made less than an "A" on an essay or term paper ever again! Although Johnnie has allowed her K-4 Teaching Certificate "collect rust and dust," she uses her knowledge in her books, which are designed to help teachers and students. Johnnie's innate sense of "write" and wrong has led her to many fields of the discipline -- humor, romance, education, editing, plays, poetry, and technical writing. As long as her computer works, Johnnie is happy writing!
