About the Book

An insatiable vaudeville dancer, a self important con man, and a rebellious female physician make their way to the untamed gold rush town of Dawson City, where they race civilization, the arctic weather, and the Mounties to amass their fortunes of wealth and love; gambling everything, win or lose. In this second book of the series, we follow our two heroines as they take separate journeys to conquer the 500 miles overland to reach a city they have only heard rumors about, after disembarking in a foreign land. They will be tested at every turn by untamed wilderness, raging rivers, sub-zero temperatures, physical exhaustion, and the worst natures of man. Caught up a human flood of gold seekers, they're prior lives blend in with all the others who are attempting the adventure. Farm boy, seamstress, clerk, senator, prostitute, or grifter, it made no difference, all will see their best and worst traits exposed to history. Set within true events that took place in the wilderness of the Yukon 1896-99, our story follows the struggles faced by actual characters who lived the adventure and is an odyssey about the change humans will make in their character when they are isolated from civilization's constraints. We are immersed in this wonderous period of human endurance by the colorful language of the day and are instantly transported to the Yukon where unique characters and the lives they lead keep us coming back for more. This is a work of historical fiction. The stories within actually happened, although some may be attributed to a different person or moved within the timeline for continuity. With a few exceptions, the characters portrayed were indeed part of the stampede and for the most part are true to their deeds. In the case of Edith Mae Rockwell, her character is an amalgamation of three well known dancehall girls from that era, and her name is a 'tip of the hat' to history and the fantastic lives they led.
This is Book II.
Book I: 'The Gold' is available in kindle, kindle unlimited, and in paperback.
Next: Book III 'WELCOME TO DAWSON' will be released October 2023.
