Este ensayo propone un enfoque diferente para abordar la obra de Julio Cortázar. Como sabemos, este autor fue un gran conocedor de las teorías de Freud, por lo que utiliza con maestría recursos psicoanalíticos, logrando así personajes de gran profundidad psicológica. La literatura fantástica es un medio adecuado para dejar que el inconsciente aflore, lo que da como resultado expresiones auténticas que no son limitadas por la moral social. Aquello que presentado en forma realista sería objeto de escándalo, puede ser aceptado en el mundo de lo fantástico. Por lo tanto, abordar el tema de las transgresiones en este escritor utilizando la crítica psicoanalítica resulta una experiencia enriquecedora y ayuda a profundizar en el entendimiento de las motivaciones del autor. Para Freud, la psicología individual es psicología social; por lo tanto, en este trabajo se aborda la obra de Cortázar tomando en cuenta la perspectiva individual y, al mismo tiempo, la influencia que la colectividad y el momento histórico tienen sobre los personajes. El compromiso político con las causas latinoamericanas marca la obra literaria de Julio Cortázar a partir de la década de los sesentas; por lo tanto, es relevante estudiar este tema dentro de su narrativa, para tener un panorama más completo de las preocupaciones literarias y sociales del escritor. Como marco teórico, se emplean los postulados de Sigmund Freud, Jacques Lacan, Wilhelm Reich, Herbert Marcuse, Eric Fromm, Friedrich Nietzsche, Michel Foucault, entre otros autores. La sociedad tecnológica, que requiere de la sumisión y la represión de los instintos y contraviene las necesidades biológicas y emocionales del individuo, aparece como fondo en varios relatos. Los cuentos de este escritor, elegidos para su análisis, presentan una gran complejidad, ya que los personajes se ven afectados por su condición singular, por el momento histórico y cultural en el que sucede la narración y por las reglas establecidas por el autor, que no necesariamente responden a la realidad. Los límites entre la vigilia y el sueño, el presente y el pasado, el yo y el otro, la vida y la muerte, se confunden dentro de la narración, lo que altera el comportamiento y el destino de los seres que pueblan estas historias. Toda obra de arte evoca una ausencia que remite a una preocupación inconsciente del escritor y que debe ser aprehendida para encontrar su significado. Este trabajo intenta capturar esa ausencia y acercarnos al inconsciente de uno de los escritores latinoamericanos más relevantes. Intentamos adentrarnos en su mundo íntimo, sus ideas recurrentes, su fantasma, dentro del proceso dinámico de la creación literaria. El objetivo de este ensayo es trazar el camino que nos lleve a encontrarnos con el autor dentro de sus cuentos y asir, a través del tema de las transgresiones, el mundo personal y subjetivo que recrea Julio Cortázar.
