About the Book

Opposite Worlds is the follow-up to Ghosters. Frank Walsh, 25, has lost his faith and left the Roman Catholic seminary where he was studying to be a priest. Now he has left home and family again and fled to London to re-invent himself. Having been jilted on their wedding day by his Yugoslav girlfriend, with whom he has had a passionate affair, he finds himself alone and lonely in London again. He has a passionate affair with another student at the Soho school where he teaches English to foreign students, this time a glamorous Greek girl. However, this relationship doesn't work out either and Frank is left alone and lonely yet again. Then, one evening in a folk club in an Irish pub, he hears a young, attractive girl singing and instantly falls in love with her. Her name is Mary, he contrives to meet her and she falls head-over-heels in love with him. Love leads to marriage - reluctantly at first on Frank's part - but their marriage proves to be a collision of two very different, indeed opposite, worlds ...
About the Author: Eugene Vesey was born and brought up in a family of five children in Manchester of Irish parents. His father was a primary school teacher and his mother a nurse. He was educated at Xaverian prep school, then Xaverian College, a Roman Catholic grammar school in Manchester, but at the age of twelve he left home and family to enter a Roman Catholic junior seminary in the Lake District to train as a missionary priest. After nine years in the seminary he left the religious life, returned home to Manchester and studied English Language and Literature at Manchester University. He then spent a year studying for his PGCE teaching qualification in Liverpool. He now lives in London, where he teaches English as a Foreign Language in a college of further education. In his free time he mainly enjoys reading, writing, listening to Irish music, watching Manchester United and having a drink with friends in the pub. His favourite authors are James Joyce and Brian Moore. His favourite musicians are Paul Brady, Van Morrison, the Furies, Moving Hearts, Christy Moore and Luka Bloom. And Bob Dylan, even though he isn't Irish - yet. He supports Greenpeace, Amnesty International and Friends of the Earth. Oh, he also has three children!
