There is a newer edition of this item:

Operations Research provides a broad focus on algorithmic and practical implementation of Operations Research (OR) techniques, using theory, applications and computations to teach students OR basics. The book can be used conveniently in a survey course that encompasses all the major tools of operations research or in two separate courses on deterministic and probabilistic decision-making.
With the Tenth Edition, the author preserves classical algorithms by providing essential hand computational algorithms as an important part of OR history. Based on input and submissions from OR students, professors and practitioners, the author also includes scenarios that show how classical algorithms can be beneficial in practice. These entries are included as Aha! Moments with each dealing with stories, anecdotes and issues in OR theory, applications, computations and teaching methodology that can advance the understanding of fundamental or concepts.
Features
Added text mini-updates appear throughout the book.
Computational issues in the revised simplex method appear in Chapter 7, including a comparison between product form and the LU decomposition used with the revised simplex method.
Using a brief introduction, inventory modeling is presented within the more encompassing context of supply chains.
This edition adds two new case analyses, resulting in a total 17 fully-developed real-life applications. All the cases appear in chapter 26 on the website and are cross-referenced throughout the book using abstracts at the start of their most applicable chapters.
All problems now appear at end of their respective chapters and are cross-referenced by text section to facilitate making problem assignments.
New problems have been added.
TORA software has been updated.

About the Book

The book, Operations Research, covers several key aspects such as theory, computations, and applications based on operations research. The utilization of computation and application-driven information are some of the main changes made to this book, in comparison with previous editions. The topics covered in this book include Advanced Linear Programming, Probabilistic Dynamic Programming, Case Analysis, Simulation Modeling, Markov Chains, Decision Analysis And Games, Review Of Basic Probability, Network Models, Integer Linear Programming, and Transportation Model And Its Variants. Some other concepts covered The Simplex Method and Sensitivity Analysis, Modeling with Linear Programming, Classical Optimization Theory, Deterministic Dynamic Programming, Deterministic Inventory Models, Goal Programming, and Forecasting Models.  Through the course of Operations Research, the author has elaborated greatly on the concept of AMPL, which is a dynamic language incorporated in modeling. This concept has been explained by incorporating several examples, on linear, nonlinear, network, and integer programming. In total, there are around 50 questions, which can be classified as mini cases that deal with real life situations. At the starting of each chapter, the readers are provided with a study guide that enables them to grasp the concepts, and the software utilized. The readers are also guided through utilizing Excel Solver in the context of linear, non-linear, network, and integer programming. The book also contains thoroughly analyzed practical events, and every chapter ends with summary applications, which may have been a part of published case studies. The author also explains a number of difficult mathematical concepts by means of numerical examples, other than the traditional proofs. About the Author The author of this book, Hamdy A. Taha, is also a renowned professor of Industrial Engineering, currently working at the University Of Arkansas. Apart from this book, the author has written one more book, Research Methodology And Operations Research: Strictly As Per Requirements Of Gujarat Technological University. His books have been sold across the globe in different languages such as Malay, Spanish, Korean, Turkish, Indonesian, Japanese, and Russian. Taha has won a number of awards for his contributions towards the field of teaching engineering studies. He has carried out training programs in different regions of the world including Mexico, Middle East, and Europe.
