The car spent the next 42 years in one barn or another until I retired in 2010. I rented a trailer and winched the car out of the barn it had spent the last dozen years in and hauled it home. I changed the oil in the engine, transmission, and rear end. Then, I bought a new battery, 4 spark plugs, and 5 gallons of gas. After I took the Tillotson carb apart and sprayed carb cleaner all over it, I put it back together with the same gaskets. It started up as if it had been running the previous week.

I started The Old Car Nut Book by writing my own stories and I am including a few of them in this book, but I have more stories to share and so do the rest of the old car nuts in America. The Old Car Nut Book is my way of sharing with other Old Car Nuts. It is also my way of reaching out to younger generations of car nuts that are beginning their journeys and fulfilling their dreams.
