About the Book

OH BROTHER! is the story of the Schellenberger family. Our life as we lived it, beginning in a suburb of Chicago on the Northwest side in the 1940's. Filled with old photographs on almost every page. Many life experiences are told of three brothers and their loving sister, author Patricia (Patsy), making their way through stretching, growing, outward and upward trek through childhood. This volume tells of happy days. James Schellenberger owned the Chevrolet agency in Elmwood Park, and he made a good life for his beautiful wife and young family of four. This is the second volume of hopefully many, in my 50 year journey of collecting family history. With much love, forever and ever never ending. Knowing that we will be together through eternity is a comfort as we lose the family one by one to death. The next volume will feature our dad James, his wife, and their siblings and families. The Lord willing.
About the Author: I wrote and self published "Sober Jim -- Coma, Canes and Courage" in 2015. Telling of the traumatic head injury of my son and his recovery and new life. This current book is OH BROTHER! My story of the Schellenberger family as we lived it, beginning in a suburb of Chicago on the Northwest side in the 1940's. Elmwood Park. This volume is filled with old family photographs on almost every page. Many stories of life experiences are told of my three brothers and myself -- as a loving sister and the author, Patricia Schellenberger Decker. This is the second volume of family history, of hopefully many. In my 50 year journey of collecting stories, letters and pictures of family and ancestors with much love, they need to be shared. The next volume will feature stories of our parents, and their siblings and families. Each volume will be filled with old photos. Some of our ancestors in future volumes will be Hirschinger, Tatomer, Bilyk, Erickson, Gamble, Hallingstad, LaMoreaux, Nippert, Schellenberger, Olson, and others. Filled with old letters, stories and photographs from "the olden days" of interesting families who came from "the old country" to America to settle and succeed in life. Which they did. My own life's "claim to fame" is as the mother of six fantastic and successful sons and daughters. Also as the first president of the Southern California Head Injury Foundation -- which has in more recent years joined with a national association, known as BIAA. The Brain Injury Association of America. Because of our experiences with head trauma or TBI, several dozen of us decided to begin a grass roots effort to assist the brain injured population. This is mentioned and expanded upon in my book, "Sober Jim." If you can't find my books in a bookstore, you can purchase through Amazon.
