About the Book

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

In this eighth installment of the series about ex-policeman Miquel Mascarell, Jordi Sierra I Fabra immerses us in an intense, addictive plot that will captivate all crime novel fans.

One day, Pere Humet, a former subordinate of Mascarell's, tells him that Piñol, Arnella, and Matarrodona, three policemen who were also in his command, were exiled together to the Argelès refugee camp, and later worked on the Maginot Line until the Germans sent them to Mauthausen. They survived that hell, but the whim of a German officer unleashed horror upon them, and Humet ended up swearing to get revenge on Piñol, who began to collaborate with the Germans. Humet explains to Mascarell that he has returned because he knows that Piñol is in Barcelona and he wants justice. Miquel agrees to help him, and invites him to dinner at his house the next day. When he never arrives, Mascarell goes to look for him, but what he finds is the body of Humet and of his cousin, stabbed repeatedly. The suspect is Nicolás, the cousin's ex-boyfriend, but Miquel's police instinct tells him that the boy is innocent. He knows that it was Piñol, and that he must find him.
