About the Book

The Spring, 2020 issue of The Occidental Quarterly marks the beginning of volume 20--twenty years of first-rate articles on Western peoples and the contemporary crisis of the West.

The Spring issue consists of seven articles, beginning with Nelson Rosit's "Racial Ecologism: An Environmental Position Paper for the Dissident Right." This is a timely article given the present concern about climate change, but a racially conscious perspective is sorely missing from the public debate.

Ricardo Duchesne follows with a groundbreaking article on developmental psychologist Jean Piaget's theory of cognitive development, contending that Western peoples were the first to attain Piaget's stage of formal operational thinking.

Ferdinand Bardamu's article disputes the common idea that Karl Marx was a Jewish anti-Semite, arguing persuasively that he a strong Jewish identity and that the movement he founded had a pronounced Jewish flavor even at its origins in the nineteenth century. His envisioned communist society (and the substantial reality after the Bolshevik Revolution in the USSR) would be a "triumph of secular Judaism, leaving Jews safe to pursue their own collective interests in Judaized, but formerly European societies."

Guillaume Durocher's on ancient Sparta shows that Sparta was an ethnostate well characterized as a group evolutionary strategy based on in-group altruism, relative egalitarianism, separation from and unity in the face of out-groups, specialization in warfare, and communally-determined in-group eugenics.

Grégoire Canlorbe follows with a stimulating and wide-ranging interview with TOQ editor Kevin MacDonald. The discussion gets at issues such as analyzing the diversity of Jewish attitudes, the concept of race, the Old Testament, the culture of the Holocaust, and National Socialism as a group evolutionary strategy.

Andrew Joyce's "Failed Crypsis and Its Discontents: Past and Present" delves into the history of Jewish crypsis as a post-Enlightenment Jewish strategy in the West, particularly on the political left. This alliance is fraying at the edges not only because of the behavior of Israel as an apartheid state bent on ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians, but also because Jews also constitute a moneyed elite in Western societies whose interests are not entirely aligned with the emergent non-White coalition that they are bankrolling and for which they are providing positive media coverage.

Finally, John Q. Publius provides very detailed data on several Jewish ethnic networks and their involvement in political donations. This is far from a complete picture of Jewish ethnic activism in the political realm but the detail provided is most impressive.
