Kan é um menino como outro qualquer. Pelo menos era isso o que ele pensava até conhecer o Vendedor de Alfaces. Quando mastigou umas de suas alfaces viajou para outra dimensão e chegou ao mundo de SOGIMA, um mundo mágico onde tudo era duplicado, do que ele conhecia. E havia um outro Kan, ou melhor, um Kan espelhado que se chamava Nak. E aí acontecem mil aventuras nesse estranho mundo de SOGIMA onde tudo era igual mas.. diferente: invertido! A grande aventura começa assim: "- Kan, vai buscar o pão para o jantar" pediu minha mãe. Fui pela rua caminhando distraído. O dia estava nublado e o ar parado. Segui tranqüilo chutando algumas pedrinhas pelo caminho quando de repente quase tropecei em alguém sentado na beira da estrada. Gelei quando vi que era ele! Dei um salto pra trás e fiquei parado sem respirar, esperando o pior. Nada! Ele estava de cabeça baixa e parecia que nem havia me notado. Não sabia se corria ou me fingia de morto. Optei por fingir que era uma múmia e sem mexer um dedo apenas fiquei de olho bem arregalado, atento. Nada! O cara parecia estar distante pensando em alguma coisa. De repente ouvi meu nome sussurrado de longe: "Kan...". Será que foi ele? Nem vi ele se mexer. Será que estou imaginando coisas? Então sua cabeça começou a levantar lentamente e pude ver seus olhos tristes, mas amáveis. Sim. Ele me olhava quase como um pedinte de rua. E fez aquele gesto que eu já conhecia. Foi abrindo o casaco e de lá tirou um molho de alface, parecido com aquele do primeiro dia. Então falou suavemente, quase sem mexer com os lábios: "Tome! É para você." "Não quero não, não quero isso não" respondi depressa. "Quem é você?". Ele falou se lamentando num tom arrastado: "Eu sou o Vendedor de Alfaces. Mas ninguém mais quer minhas plantinhas. Dizem que já não são mais belas como antes. Que o sabor mudou. Mas é tudo mentira. Tome! Prove uma...". Nã... Não gaguejei, tenho que buscar o pão, to atrasado..." tentei desconversar. Ele baixou a cabeça e lamentou... "Ninguém mais quer as minhas alfaces... Cuido tanto de minhas hortaliças... São puras, puras e tão fresquinhas..." Comecei a sentir dó daquele estranho ser. Já nem parecia tão estranho assim. Percebi que meu medo havia ido embora (e gostei pois meu pai disse que se a gente enfrentar o medo ele vira fumaça) e cheguei mais perto para consolá-lo. "Está bem" falei, "Mas vai ser só um pedacinho". Ele esboçou um sorriso tímido e mais uma vez ofereceu as alfaces que me pareceram mais bonitas dessa vez. Peguei um pedacinho de uma delas, pus na boca e comecei a mastigar. "Você vai gostar ele disse, você vai gostar...". Realmente o sabor era interessante. Nem parecia alface. Uma sensação gostosa invadiu meu corpo, subiu um calorzinho e eu ouvia a voz suave do vendedor: "Você vai gostar, você vai...". A voz foi ficando cada vez mais distante e a última coisa que lembro é que ficou tudo escuro. Não sei quanto tempo passou mas, quando voltei a mim, ao meu redor era o maior breu. Nenhuma luzinha, apenas... Apenas uma lá ao longe.
