Es el número de su soledad: setecientos setenta y ocho. En una ciudad destruida, triste y sin alma, comienza a soñar con el viaje del doctor Félix Oliva y los tres libros que transporta en su huida desde un frente de combate por un pozo blanco. Pero, ¿quién es este hombre? ¿Es el mismo Félix Oliva?. Durante el viaje de los libros, el doctor Félix Oliva irá encontrando la vida del Laureano Rodríguez, el comandante de su regimiento y quien le entrega los libros., la muerte de Juán Espejos, y sus amargos recuerdos de injusticia y traición en la academia militar. En su viaje se encontrará con cuatro mujeres, las cuales lo acogeran en diversas circunstancias: Sandra Fernhaus, la amante de Laureano Rodríguez; la propietaria de una casa, llamada Marta, que da alimento y paz a unos presos con el juicio perdido; la tía Victoria, que regenta un chiringuito en una playa; pero también conocerá a la Lider del movimiento. Todos estos recuerdos constituyen la base de la destrucción del mundo de seres humanos que atraviesa. Félix Oliva irá recorriendo caminos y aventuras hasta llegar a una ciudad costera, donde el mundo ha cambiado de color y textura. Nada volverá a ser lo mismo. Ni siquiera el único café de la playa. Es allí donde descubrirá, por fin, a quién pertenece el número setecientos setenta y ocho. Una historia de nueve sueños de 778 palabras, sueños de Félix Oliva o su número de la soledad, el setecientos setenta y ocho -y el olifante de Roldan en la batalla de Roncescalles, la enfermedad genética ligada a X que produce ceguera nocturna, la muerte del botánico y científico Linneo o el mesías de Händel. Pero no sólo es una historia sobre los sueños y su influencia en la vida real, sino de los colores que permanecen en la destrucción, de la preparación y el apego al café, de los libros y del destino incomprensible, quizás cifrado en números, para cada uno de nosotros.
About the Author: Pablo Guisado Vasco (Sevilla, 1977), tras completar los estudios en el Colegio Aljarafe, se licencia en medicina en la universidad de Sevilla, obteniendo el grado de Doctor 'Cum laudem' en 2004. Desde los primeros años de la universidad compagina la lectura y escritura de relatos con su formación profesional como médico. Durante esos años, participa en diversos concursos semi-profesionales (finalista en el "II Premio Q Pro Quo de relato corto" con el relato 'Una tarde en Primavera', 1993; 'Antología de Cuentos Inéditos' (varios autores, 2003), editorial Jamáis, con los relatos 'El viajero' y 'Ser Humano'). 'Números negros sobre fondo blanco' es su opera prima en la novela corta, tras completar su formación como especialista en medicina interna, en la ciudad de Madrid, en la que vive desde 2005. Esta primera novela corta vislumbra las influencias principales del autor, enraizadas en la literatura europea (B. Schulz, M. Bulgákov, H. Böhl, y más recientemente A. Baricco), junto a otros como O. Pamuk o J.M. Coetzee.
