About the Book

NOVA SOL, book one of the Brief History of Humankind Trilogy Twenty years after the Planetary Rebellion, the Nova Sol colonists are still stranded hundreds of light years from Earth. The mysterious teleportation mechanism that allowed humans to settle the new solar system was eradicated in the natural disasters caused by the rebellion. The invention of a faster than light technology offers the 5 million colonists new hope for returning to their home planet. But difficulties arise while implementing the new stardrive. These difficulties will force President Benefacio to risk others' lives in order to get back to Earth. Lurking in the background, the Bions - bio-nanites that were "awakened" during the Planetary Rebellion - are following their own agenda, which will put them at odds with the humans. Several humans - including President Benefacio's father - have spontaneously developed anti-aging abilities. Is this a freak occurrence or is there some greater force at work? Meanwhile, on Bastin, the desert planet, one of the original human colonists keeps a secret that will change the course of human history.
About the Author: I have been a fan of fantasy and science fiction ever since I can remember. Growing up I used to fall asleep listening to CBS Radio Mystery Theater and spent Saturday afternoons watching Creature Double Feature on WLVI, channel 56. Also, I collected comics and ended up doing my master's thesis on the structure of the modern, American superhero comic book. I grew up on a boarding school campus in Massachusetts and as an adult chose a career working with teenagers. I worked with teens for 20 years and spent 13 of them living on and working at a private school in the Colorado Rockies. My job allowed me to travel the world. I have been to the Great Wall of China, Angkor Wat, the Taj Mahal, the Sahara Desert, Machu Picchu and countless other spots in Asia, Africa and South America. I have also traveled extensively throughout the United States. I am now living in the northwest section of the country after having grown up in New England, spending four years at the University of the South in Sewanee, TN., earning my M.A. from the University of New Mexico and then moving to Colorado. My mother is a published poet and my father a world-class educator. I caught the "writing bug" from them at a very early age. I can remember scrawling short stories on scraps of paper in my bedroom late at night long after I was supposed to be asleep. I have been inspired by both my travels and by the all the people I have met and worked with along the way. My family and friends have encouraged me over the years to make a living as a writer. I am now taking on the challenge of following my bliss. And enjoying every minute of it! Thank you for reading my books. The "brief history trilogy" will be finished in the summer of 2012 and then I will be on to other projects. The ideas just keep on coming!
