Schulpolitik, Note: 2,0, Christian-Albrechts-Universität Kiel (Institut für Pädagogik), 8 Quellen im Literaturverzeichnis, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: "Eine gute Bildung ist für die Jugend ein Zuchtmittel, für das Alter ein Trost, für den Armen Reichtum und für den Reichen ein Schmuck." (Diogenes von Sinope, etwa 400-323 v. Chr.) Nach dieser Definition ist Bildung universell einsetzbar: Jeder Mensch kann auf vielfältige Weise von ihr profitieren, nachdem er sie (vielleicht widerwillig) in jungen Jahren genossen hat. Somit ist der Begriff der 'guten Bildung' durchaus positiv konnotiert. Doch wie erlangt man eigentlich eine 'gute' Bildung - und wie lässt sich diese (inhaltlich) definieren? In erster Linie wird davon ausgegangen, dass vor allem die Schule uns 'bildet'. Denn oft wird angeführt, sie habe einen sogenannten Bildungsauftrag inne; und das, was die Eltern ihren Kindern nicht beibringen können, müssen dafür professionell ausgebildete Lehrkräfte übernehmen. So werden einem jungen Menschen während seiner gesamten Schulzeit Dinge gelehrt, die ihm (offenbar) den späteren Alltag erleichtern sollen (während im obigen Zitat des Diogenes eine gute Bildung eher Mittel zum Zweck ist). Mit Aussagen wie "Nicht für die Schule, sondern für das Leben lernen wir" versuchen die Lehrer entsprechend, ihre Schüler zu motivieren. Allerdings bleibt noch immer die Frage offen, was und wie und unter welchen Voraussetzungen gelehrt und gelernt werden soll. Eine Antwort scheint zunächst einfach, sind doch die Lerninhalte in einzelne Unterrichtsfächer eingeteilt, die (aller Wahrscheinlichkeit nach) den Anspruch erheben, für das Leben elementar zu sein. Doch es würde den Rahmen dieser Arbeit sprengen, die relevanten Inhalte der einzelnen Fächer zu untersuchen; bedeutender scheint hier die Feststellung, dass die Schulzeit überhaupt eine entscheidende Phase im Leben eines Menschen darstellt.
