About the Book

This is a short history of the first year of the women's liberation movement. Because Anne was there when it started, she was able to recount the first meetings, during 1967 and 1968. The book is very personal and very revealing about Anne.

Anne says "I wrote it because the men in my life asked me to. They wanted to know how women's liberation started and said 'You were there Anne, please tell all about it. Everyone wants to know it.'

"So I did it to please them, but it turned out I had a ball writing it. And I found it very interesting.

"It's a lot of fun, and some of it is funny, I didn't try to be funny, I just told it as it was. But it made me laugh as I was writing it (some parts of it) because I hadn't realized back then what far-out chicks we really had been. But maybe that is how revolutions start."

The book is delightful and really interesting. It is a quick read, and really evokes the feel of the times and the types of women involved. A giddy happy time of bold purpose.

The book puts you right there with what was happening, and makes you hungry for more.

Plenty has already been written about the movement, so Anne's unique memories and experience add a visceral excitement I doubt has been captured before. Like being there and being that young again.
About the Author: Anne is a native New Yorker who lives in Tucson, Arizona with her husband, Bill, their dog, and 2 cats.

Since 2009 she has self published 4 novels about her life, Ruthie Has a New Love, Girl Blog from Tucson, MORE Girl Blog from Tucson, and Sweet sound of Bird Song.

Her life in Tucson is simple. She likes hanging out with her dog and kitties in backyard, watching the sky, listening to the bird calls and watching the birds/

She swims outside year round at the Y. She watches TV. She reads.

She and Bill had lived in an East Village tenement apartment for 20 years before they moved to Tucson with their dog on Thanksgiving, 1991.

In her first month in Tucson at the public library Anne found A Course In Miracles. Reading that book changed her life and now Anne is totally New Age.

Anne became a writer back in 1972 when her career as a school teacher didn't work out. Her husband suggested she become a writer and offered to support her, altho Bill was then earning only $96/week as a Wall Street messenger.

Anne gladly accepted the offer and has been a writer ever since. She worked as part-time secretary in NYC. In Tucson Bill followed his dream and went to art school.

Anne loves animals and nature. She says "I loved my time in NYC meeting people from every walk of life, but I am perfectly happy in the peace and beauty of nature now."

Anne enjoys self publishing and now includes the wonderful cartoons and drawings by her husband (Bill Pyne) in all her recent books, to add to the reader's joy.
