Dr. Hikner ist Mannschaftsarzt der SG Dynamo Dresden und errichtet in Russland (Perm) eine ambulante Operationseinrichtung und später eine Endoprothetikabteilung im Krankenhaus, in denen regelmäßig und erfolgreich Operationen mit neuen Standards und Techniken durchgeführt werden. Der Weg dahin ist mit manchen Schwierigkeiten versehen (Suche eines geeigneten Gebäudes, Zoll, Technik und Techniktransport, Auswahl russischer Kollegen usw.). Mit der SG Dynamo Dresden steigt Hikner bis in die 2. Bundesliga auf. Der Freund Rudolph, ebenfalls Dynamofan und heimlicher Philosoph, kreuzt wieder und wieder seinen Weg. Die Tätigkeit in Russland bringt den Arzt den dortigen Menschen, die eigentlich Tataren sind näher. So lernt er die Banja, das Jetski, den Motorschlitten, alte Flugzeuge und besonders die Menschen, teils ehemalige Patienten, näher kennen. Ein Unternehmer ermutigt ihn zur Fahrradtour mit den im eigenen Werk produzierten Rädern. Im städtischen Ballet Perms wohnt Hikner einer hinreißenden Aufführung "Schwanensees" bei. Dynamo steigt ab, obwohl ein Energiemediziner, von Hikner angeheuert, Hilfe versprach. Der Arzt wirft schließlich das Handtuch, weil mit dem neuen Trainer keine respektvolle Zusammenarbeit möglich ist. Erinnerungen an die eigene Kindheit und Jugend, die Ereignisse um den Unfalltod seiner Ehefrau und die Wendezeit verfangen sich in der Gegenwart und hinterlassen Fragen zum Hier und Jetzt. Die Einzigartigkeit des Arztberufes wird ihm in Russland eindrucksvoll vor Augen geführt. Die Patienten sind für eine fachgerechte medizinische Hilfe mit Aussicht auf Heilung und für die ehrliche Zuwendung dankbar. Dr. Hikner begreift, dass diese Dankbarkeit jenes Glück ist, was mancher sein Leben lang sucht. Zwischenfälle und Rückschläge musste man einkalkulieren und sie treten prompt auf. About the Author: Der Autor wächst in Dresden auf. Nach dem Abitur studiert er Medizin. Er erlangt den Doktortitels und die Facharztanerkennung für Orthopädie und geht mit weiteren Kollegen in die ärztliche Niederlassung. Ein Schicksaalschlag trifft ihn unerwartet, denn er verliert seine Ehefrau und bleibt mit beiden Kindern plötzlich allein zurück. Mit der SG Dynamo Dresden gelingt der Aufstieg bis in die 2. Bundesliga. Doch selbst ein Energiemediziner von Dr. Hikner ins Spiel gebracht kann nicht helfen und den Abstieg verhindern. Hikner setzt erfolgreich die Idee um, eine deutsche Klinik in Russland zu errichten. In der Heimat kreuzt Rudolph, der Freund wiederholt seinen Weg und seine Ansichten. Der Roman trägt zweifelsfrei autobiographische Züge und stellt, nicht nur zwischen den Zeilen, teils sarkastische und provokante Fragen. Der Leser erhält seinen Freiraum Antworten zu finden.
