About the Book

Following the failed December 8, 1962, Brunei Darussalam revolt, the author joined the then Brunei Police Force early the following year. Graduating top of his squad in July 1963, he served in many branches and districts in Brunei. His diligence and hard work caught the attention of the Head of Special Branch, the intelligence division of the now Royal Brunei Police. Transferred to Special Branch, where he founded his niche, eventually rose to prominence in that service. He soon earned a couple of training courses with the renowned British security services. Soon several promotions followed and eventually landed him a trusted position as head of Section A1.In 1973, after Malaysia's MEIO (Malaysian External Intelligence Organization) successfully engineered the escape of several detained former senior leaders of the Brunei People's Party (PRB), this outlawed Brunei Political party reactivated with Malaysia's collaboration. Brunei was well on the road to being destabilized to counter the retired Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan's, the late father of the current Sultan, claim for the return of the Limbang. The former white Raja Brook illegally annexed Limbang in late 1800. On 1 July 1946, Raja Brook seceded Sarawak to Britain, Sarawak became a colony when it should have been returned to the rightful owner. Later Malaysia dispatched 32 college students and a couple of disgruntled police officers to Benghazi in Libya to undergo terrorist training with other international terrorist groups like the IRA, the Japanese Red Brigade, and the PLO. Facing rapidly mounting threats posed by Malaysia, the PRB Special Branch morphed into a separate civilian entity, becoming the Department of Security and Intelligence (DSI).The author eventually rose to the position of Assistant Director of Intelligence in 1996. Through the efforts of DSI, made possible by the appointment of Tun Hussein Onn as Prime Minister of Malaysia following the demise of Tun Razak, the new Malaysian administration put the brakes on all PRB activities. Sadly, the halt in PRB activities also sounded like the death knell of DSI.However, this story did not end here. In 1991, the author, now a retired person, uncovered a plot to assassinate Sultan Bolkiah. This story is covered in this book.
