Este volumen aborda los nudos centrales que articulan la crítica de la orientación ilustrada practicada por Nietzsche y las peculiaridades de su reflexión filosófica, que lo presentan como un "extraño ilustrado", cuya radicalidad de pensamiento se vuelve sobre sus propias premisas. Muestra el configurarse de esta particular Ilustración en el contexto de las "transformaciones sucesivas y coherentes" que han signado a la vez la filosofía y la biografía del filósofo. Recupera la raíz filológica de la genealogía y de la filosofía histórica nietzscheana y dilucida la "flexión o modulación inmanente al proceso de crítica de la metafísica" en el sentido de la "superación" heideggeriana. La rica confrontación con el filósofo de Friburgo ilumina el "viraje" o "curvatura" de la Ilustración en la óptica de Nietzsche y propone pensar esta compleja temática lejos de la difundida imagen "posmodemizada" del filósofo.

MANUEL BARRIOS CASARES (Sevilla, 1960). Doctor en Filosofía por la Universidad de Sevilla, amplió estudios en la Ludwig-Maximilians Universitat de Múnich. Ha sido codirector de Er, revista de filosofía y Decano de la Facultad de Filosofía de la Universidad, de la que actualmente es catedrático de filosofía. Es miembro del equipo de investigación editor de los Fragmentos Póstumos y las Obras Completas de Nietzsche en castellano, así como del grupo internacional Hyper Nietzsche. Estudioso de la genealogía de la modernidad con especial atención al idealismo alemán y a los desarrollos de su crítica de la razón, ha publicado sobre esta temática numerosos artículos en revistas especializadas de Europa y Sudamérica y ha colaborado en una treintena de volúmenes colectivos. Es autor, entre otros, de Holderlin y Nietzsche, dos paradigmas intempestivos de la modernidad en contacto (Reflexión, 1992); Narrar el abismo. Ensayos sobre Nietzsche, Holder/in y la disolución del clasicismo (Pre-textos, 2001); Voluntad de lo trágico. El concepto nietzscheano de voluntad a partir de "El nacimiento de la tragedia" (Biblioteca Nueva, 2002), La voluntad de poder como amor (Arena, 2007) o La vida como ensayo (Fénix, 2010).
