About the Book

A conflicted son discovers he has a calling as a healer, and with the help of his mother's spirit he tries to save his father who is dying but first has to get his father to believe in his power.

On the South African east coast, Nicholas Rainbow (19) wakes up in his squatter tree-house home by a moving spirit. He lives with his father Mark Rainbow, who drinks too much and has a terrible cough. Nicholas is desperate to find a way to help his father, but he doesn't know how. One day, Mark decides to consult with their neighbour, Makhosi Mandla, who is an African shaman, regarding his health. Nicholas tags along and joins his father Mark for the divination. Makhosi tells them that Mark's ex-wife, Mary, is causing Mark's illness. Mark doesn't believe her. His wife died five years ago in an accident. Makhosi goes on to say that his wife's spirit is wandering the universe and does not rest. She's calling out. However, Nicholas is stunned when Makhosi tells him that he has a calling as a healer, and that he is a chosen one. Nicholas doesn't know if it's true or not. Mark doesn't believe that Nicholas is a healer. Going against Mark's wishes, Nicholas decides to attend Makhosi's Shamanic Traditional Healing School. Soon, Nicholas is able to perceive magic rainbow colours around him, but he panics when his father smashes Nicholas' prized mystical shell with which he was able to connect with his mother's spirit. However, Nicholas, who is still determined to heal his father, discovers that his father has to believe or he won't be able to help him. A ceremony is conducted to bring back Mary's spirit. Mark shows up, only to find out that there is a darker spiritual force, Lucius, who is at large and wants to manifest into the physical realm. When Nicholas tries to exorcise his possessed father, a spiritual seal is broken between the real and the unseen, and Nicholas is zapped into the realm of Maya, by Lucius. It is here that Nicholas sets on a mission to find the ultimate healing cure for all illnesses. But will he return back home in time with healing elixir to save his dying father? When the calling has been answered between the living and the dead, Lucius is weakened, only to become more determined to defeat Nicholas, the Chosen One. This is only the beginning to an epic warfare yet to come.
