About the Book

The world order (W.O.) is always an evolving matter. The literary human history is over 5000 years. The change of W.O. is closely correlated to human development in culture and civilization. However, human civilization may get destroyed by natural disasters or by man-made tragedies. The survival of civilization of any human society depends strongly on that society's tenacity in resisting natural and man-made disasters and its ability in recording the civilization. Many human civilizations perished principally because the written records were destroyed entirely. Many civilizations became weakened due to wars such as the Greek (2700-1500BCE), Roman or Persian (550-465BCE) civilizations. The Chinese civilization is not the oldest but is the longest continuous thriving civilization from Huang Di ( 2700BCE) to today. The Chinese kept written history from dynasty to dynasty. When they were completely conquered by invaders, happened twice (the Yuan Dynasty by Mongolians (1271-1368CE) and Qing Dynasty by Manchurian (1636-1911CE)), they absorbed the invaders into their culture and civilization including Chinese written language. The Chinese, proud of their civilization, named themselves as Middle Kingdom - the center of the world. However, the Chinese were nearly conquered by the Japanese when Japan launched a Conquer China Plan (the war lasted 14 years (1931-1945)) resulting in Japan's defeat. We would never know whether the Chinese civilization would end or not if Japan won the war, since Japan was notorious in converting colonialism to 'Japanization' as seen when Japan ruled Taiwan for 50 years (1885-1945) and Liuqiu, forcing natives to change names, language and customs. Today China has recovered from her treacherous 150 years of invasions (1800-1945) by the West and Japan. Amazingly, the Chinese civilization is ever more thriving today than their glory days in Han and Tang Dynasties. The industrial revolution was a dramatic force for advancing human civilization. It made the Western countries, even tiny Holland, very powerful. Thus, in the past three centuries, the Western Empires practiced colonialism, expanding territories and conquering nations. Some civilizations in Africa and America were entirely destroyed. The two world wars (7/28/1914 - 11/11/1918 and 9/1/1939 - 9/2/1945) changed the power structure of the world. The League of Nations (1/20/1920 - 4/19/1946) was formed after WW I to manage W. O. but it failed with WW II occurred. Post WW II, the United Nations was formed to manage W. O, but its effectiveness was not satisfactory. The U.S. benefitted from the two world wars and emerged as the superpower of the world. The U.S. pursued a foreign policy to lead the world to fight the spreading communism, expecting a Uni-Polar W. O. to come. Even though the Soviet Union was collapsed in 1991, the world had hardly become a harmonious Uni-Polar order. The world has seen faster development; multiple nations have become stronger but relatively the economy of the superpower U.S. has shrunk from 40% to 20% share of the world economy. Today, the PPP GDP of China has surpassed that of the U.S. China has become the second power in the world poised to lead the world through global economic development programs beneficial to the participating members and the world economy. Observing current events as presented in this book, it is clear that the world is not in a harmonious Uni-Polar W. O. Multiple powers pursuing arms race and military strength will no doubt lead to WW III, disastrous to human civilization. The sensible approach is for the U.S. and China to engage collaborative Bi-Polar world politics inducing the other powers to accept a Bi-Polar W.O. for the benefit of everyone in the world. This book is named New World Order - The Bi-Polar View to lead the readers to ponder and appreciate the merit of a Collaborative Bi-Polar World Order.
