About the Author: Born in the Shetland Islands, Scotland, James A. Anderson earned an MA in geography, graduating with honors from Aberdeen University in 1967. He went on to gain a diploma in education from Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda, and served as an education officer with the Kenyan government for two years. Next, he became a town planner in New Zealand and, later, in England. He finally moved again to New Zealand in 1997, where he worked as a district planner and a planning consultant until retiring in 2008.
Perhaps it was his Viking blood that drove him to travel extensively whenever he could. And now, after completing a New Zealand Institute of Business Studies course on freelance travel writing and photography, Anderson shares his travel tales in his book To the New 7 Wonders of the World, which details the journeys that took him to each of the intriguing destinations on the list.
