Weltkrieg, Note: 1,3, Universität Osnabrück, Veranstaltung: Internationale Beziehungen 1917-1945, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Als die Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika im Dezember 1941 in den Zweiten Weltkrieg eintraten, war ein Ende der kriegerischen Auseinandersetzungen noch nicht absehbar. Die Achsenmächte unter Deutschland, Italien und Japan versuchten Europa und Südostasien in ihren Herrschaftsbereich zu bekommen. Dabei war Europa schon weitgehend von Hitlers Truppen besetzt. Mit dem Angriff auf Pearl Habor durch die Japaner wurden die USA offiziell und aktiv in den Krieg einbezogen. Doch wie kam es zu der Kursänderung der Amerikaner, die zuvor immer ihre Neutralität betonten? War der Kriegseintritt vorprogrammiert oder wäre ohne die Ereignisse von Pearl Habor eine Nichtbeteiligung möglich geblieben? Diese Hausarbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Neutralität und dem Kriegseintritt der USA in den Jahren zwischen 1937 und 1941. Dabei wird vor allem auf die Ursachen und die Entwicklung vor und während des Zweiten Weltkriegs seitens der USA Bezug genommen. Zunächst wird dabei die Position der Amerikaner beleuchtet. Wie verhielt sich Präsident Roosevelt während sich in Europa der Krieg anbahnte? Gab es Unterstützung für verbündete Staaten? Weiter soll der Konflikt mit Japan eingehend untersucht werden. Wie kam es zum Angriff auf Pearl Habor? Welche Ereignisse gingen voraus? Zudem wird die Stimmung innerhalb der amerikanischen Bevölkerung erläutert? Änderte sich die neutrale Grundhaltung im Laufe der ersten Kriegsjahre? Im Folgenden geht es um das Verhältnis zur Sowjetunion. Konnten die ideologischen Unterschiede zwischen beiden Staaten aufgrund des gemeinsamen Gegners überbrückt werden? Inwieweit gab es Unterstützung seitens der USA für Stalin? Abschließend wird der Kriegseintritt selbst noch einmal aufgezeigt, wobei auch der weitere Verlauf kurz umschrieben wird. D
