Er hat sich durch vielfach provokante Auftritte im Fernsehen einen festen Platz in der Hierarchie der Entertainer erkämpft und ist heute auf allen medialen Feldern zu Hause. Durch seine Sendung TV Total und durch die vielen "Sonderevents", die er immer wieder in diesem Rahmen ausrichtet, hat er sich mittlerweile einen "Kultstatus" erarbeitet und gilt als ein Phänomen der Medien. Die Eigenschaften von Stefan Raab, die ihm zu diesem Phänomen machen, sind der Gegenstand dieser Arbeit. Anhand der Kommunikationstheorie wird erklärt, wie die Massenmedien mit ihren Vorbildern die Medienlandschaft und (dadurch) auch die Rezipienten beeinflussen. Dabei treten die kommunikativen Strukturen zu Tage mit denen in den Medien gearbeitet wird. Exemplarisch für das versierte Arbeiten mit diesen Strukturen steht Stefan Raab, dem oft sowohl positives wie negatives Wirken im Umgang mit den Massenmedien vorgehalten wird. Wenn im Folgenden von Massenmedien die Rede ist, sind primär das Fernsehen, und die mit diesen verbundenen Verbreitungs- und Kontaktmedien, wie Radio, Internet, Telefon sowie Datenträger gemeint. Die dabei notwendigen kommunikativen Systeme und Strategien, wie etwa der kommunikationstheoretische Hintergrund, die im Vorfeld zum Verständnis einzuführen sind, werden an Hand der Sendung TV Total und ihrem Moderator Stefan Raab in ihrer Anwendung sowie ihrer Funktion analysiert werden. Die dabei wirkenden soziologischen Dispositionen der Rezipienten, sowie die kommunikativen Prozesse in den Massenmedien werden erklärt und auf die Kommunikationsstrukturen in Talkformaten übertragen. In diesen lassen sich die Strukturen aufdecken, mit denen Stefan Raab seine Sendung strukturell gestalt
