Die Grundschule steht heute - wie das Bildungswesen insgesamt - vor neuen Herausforderungen und Problemen, die sich vor allem aus den Veränderungen in der Gesellschaft und damit auch aus den außerschulischen Lebens- und Entwicklungsbedingungen der Kinder ergeben. Nur so können sie die Anforderungen und die pädagogischen Arbeit sinnvoll und erfolgreich bewältigen. Insbesondere Lehrerinnen und Lehrer müssen sich mit den Veränderungen der Schülerinnen und Schülern auseinandersetzen und sich den Herausforderungen stellen. Um zeitgemäß und zukunftsgerecht unterrichten zu können, ist jedoch auch eine Reformierung der Unterrichts- und Lernmethoden dringend notwendig. Denn der Prozess des Lehrens und Lernens kann durch geeignete Methoden geordnet, verbessert und beschleunigt werden, das heißt, die Qualität des Unterrichts kann somit gesteigert werden. Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich genau mit dieser Problematik und stellt neue Methoden und Formen des Lernens und Unterrichtens aus verschiedenen Blickwinkeln vor. Die PISA-Ergebnisse machen weiterhin deutlich, dass Kinder und Jugendliche in deutschen Schulen erhebliche Mängel in den getesteten Bereichen aufweisen. Spätestens jetzt sollte darauf reagiert werden. Es hat sich in den letzten Jahren eine neue Lernkultur entwickelt, die dementsprechend neue Lehr- und Lernformen benötigt. Die Entfaltung neuer Lehr- und Lernformen existiert bereits seit längerem, doch welche Formen sind effektiv? Die traditionelle und fast verdrängte Form des Lehrens ist der Frontalunterricht. Moderne Unterrichtsmethoden sind vergleichsweise offener und freier.
