About the Book

The consequence of an affair with an Englishman, Demis Papahadjopoulos is brought up by his Greek Cypriot mother, Tahlia, and a wicked, Turkish-Cypriot stepfather who is fully aware that he has no genetic connection with the eldest child of his wife. The father is a self-centred, megalomaniac sadist. He subjects his wife to continual sexual demands, keeping her almost permanently pregnant or breast-feeding. He enhances his activities by including first Demis and then a younger sister in his demands. Tahlia accidentally discovers this obscene behaviour and impetuously runs away taking only her eldest son with her and leaving the remaining children with their genuine father. Tahlia escapes the political divide that has kept her separated from her blood relations for more than a decade but her return to her family causes disappointment at her conduct. She is kept in seclusion to prevent her husband and his people from finding her. She finds solace in the heart of a young female cousin who takes a similar interest in the teenaged Demis. Demis takes after his natural father with a testosterone fuelled arrogance that is augmented by the evil upbringing of the megalomaniac. He shuns school as often as possible to entertain himself with the females frequenting the local beaches, some of whom are even younger than he is. The power of his family initially prevents much interest from the police but when it can no longer be avoided, Tahlia and her son are banished to the home of a distant relation in England. Tahlia quietly settles down, knowing there is no hope for her to ever go back to her homeland. She becomes obsessed with seeking out Demis's natural father, whom she only knows as Rickard. Demis continues much as he had done, finding females young and old with whom to practise his sordid fantasies. When his favourite dies 'on the job' he hides the corpse and immediately runs away to his island home. Once there, his handsome features and dual language skills attract many single, female holidaymakers, especially the richest. He soon becomes wealthy on his profits and returns to England. A lady cold case detective connects him to a death that she is unable to pin on him. She does manage get him convicted of the rape of a schoolgirl. He serves a term in prison. By the time he is released, his mother has lost her mind with her obsession of finding his father. When she dies, he destroys all the evidence she had collected. Demis starts working for Elise Harper. Once again his testosterone takes over but he is thwarted by Elise's rejection. She eventually fires him for filming pornography in her studio. He plans revenge which begins as stalking and ends in an abduction and bondage episode that leaves Elise severely traumatized and Demis again in prison. Be aware! Demis Papahadjopoulos is not a nice man. His story is unpleasant and makes difficult reading. Do not let him charm you into believing any different! Does Demis ever become a respectable citizen? It does not work out that way.
About the Author: Joanne Jacquard retired from real work in 2010 and settled down to finishing and publishing all those novels she had begun over the previous 40 years! The 'Further Beyond the Camera Saga' is a series of six novels that shed light and detail on most of the characters involved with Elise Harper and her adventures. Book 1 - 'Developments' is Elise Harper's story as she remembers it, from her meeting with Richard Carradine to her abduction by Demis Papahadjopoulos and rescue by Bryn Crawford. Book 2 - 'Aberrations' details Elise Harper's husband, William, through his traumatic and abused childhood, his loneliness and the salvation he found when he met Elise. Book 3 - 'Special Effects' introduces the character, Roxanne, and how vital she is to the background of both Bryn Crawford and Richard Carradine. Book 4 - 'Negatives' discloses Demis Papahadjopoulos's background and discovers what it was that turned him into such an evil and sadistic character. Book 5 - 'Exposures' gives an insight into Richard Carradine's larger than life character in the full. Book 6 - 'Enlargements' is the story told by Bryn Crawford in his quiet and unassuming manner. He outlives all the others and can describe life after the deaths of Richard, Elise, Roxanne and William. Beyond the camera, things are not quite the same as they appear to the naked eye. Further beyond the camera lie only six degrees of separation.
