About the Book

Gregg Matthews had served sixteen years in the military, mostly in airborne units. He had been the ultimate soldier until, one day he had a serious run in with a senior officer. This resulted in a Court Martial and a dishonorable discharge. Whilst in London looking for work in personal protection, he met and fell in love with a beautiful Filipino lady. Talia the lady offered him a job as her personal bodyguard. They had many wonderful experiences resulting in Talia becoming pregnant and then they were married. One tragic night the Abu Sayyaf terrorists came after Gregg to use as a hostage, to make Talias company pay big time. Talia was shot and killed. The Filipino Special Forces asked Gregg if he would like to assist them with Abu Sayyaf and get revenge. There was a very dramatic twist, involving the Philippines Special Forces, American Delta Force in an ambush with Abu Sayaaf. They wiped out fifteen terrorists. Gregg had his revenge. Gregg returned back to UK, but did not take long in finding another job in personal protection with a company based in Dubai. Gregg became involved in a contract the company had, running plant and equipment up the south coast of Yemen for the construction of an airfield to be used for Russian fighters. Yemen was in a turmoil with the north fighting the south and had brought in the Russians. The airfield was on the borders of Yemen and the Oman. This caused great concern to the Omanis who had fought a protracted war with communist rebels coming over from Yemen many years ago, and did not want to get involved again. Britain who are advisors to Oman and assisted in the last conflict decided on an action. Gregg was approached as he was in a position to carry out sabotage on the plant and equipment. Once again a dramatic outcome.

About the Author

ohn was born during World War11. In the aftermath of the war, in Northern England, shipyards and mines were laying off their workers in their thousands. John learnt at a very early age the art of survival, as food was rationed and very hard to come by. It soon became obvious to John that he loved what he called his adventures, not knowing that it was the rush of adrenalin that was giving him the buzz. John wanted to be a journalist, but due to family problems he had to leave school aged 14. Aged 15 he started his apprenticeship in the shipyards. At the age of seventeen John joined the 17th Battalion of the Parachute Regiment Territorial Army. This helped him to get through an unwanted apprenticeship in the shipyards. Aged twenJohn decide he had had enough, and joined the regular army in the Royal Engineers. After training, John then volunteered for a unit recommended to him called 9 Independent Parachute Squadron Royal Engineers. The squadron is rated as one of the very best. John served in many countries in the world seeing action in Yemen and Oman. After nearly ten years in the Airborne John was posted as a Sergeant instructor to the Royal Engineers Diving School near Southampton. After two years he decided to leave the military and try his hand at Deep Sea Commercial Diving, they were needing loads of divers in the North Sea. For the next ten years John worked all over the world as a deep sea commercial diver, eventually ending up in Dubai as the Base manager for Comex a French company, at that time one of the biggest in the world. Sadly John had a very serious diving accident which finished his diving career. Aged forty he had to change his occupation and studied Health and Safety, eventually working for Balfour Beatty a very big construction company. In 1998 he was struck by the treasure hunting bug, and in the ensuing years run twelve diving expeditions primarily to politically unstable and dangerous countries. Yemen being the main one. However he concentrated all his energies and finances in the chase for the Esmeralda of Vasco de Gamas fleet of 1503, which had sunk near an island in the Oman. Using his undersea survey equipment they had definite hits on a location uncovered in his massive research. The Esmeralda was the biggest or oldest marine archaeological find in the world. John put together a large recovery team. They were due to sail from Salalah to the shipwreck location when they were stopped by the authorities without any explanation.
