About the Book

English summary: Our understanding of ships and shipbuilding in the ancient Roman world has progressed significantly in the last fifty years. The present volume draws on scholarly studies in fields as diverse as archaeology, linguistics, and classics to provide a comprehensive and authoritative analysis of merchant ships and naval societies in ancient Rome. Per le acque marittime ho contribuito al progetto The evolution of wooden shipbuilding in the Eastern Mediterranean during the 18th and 19th centuries impostato dal 1993 dall' arch.
