Nations and Tribes: An Introduction to the Revealed History of the Before America People by Zyad Meriwether, is designed to give the reader more insight and understanding of Black American history, considering that too many of us do not know our true history.
However, this is due to a couple of reasons. For one, most of our people do not know their own history, consequent to the fact that we have been subjected to cultural appropriation for hundreds of years, and two, because the United States educational system has premeditatedly taught our history feloniously for far too long. This was done with the sole purpose of keeping the downtrodden black man obedient.
"Nations and Tribes" is original and significant because the author has done years of research with the determination of finding the truth about Black American history, by digging deep into religious text (i.e. the Torah, Bible, Quran, and Hadith). He incorporates widely known scholars, ranging from ancient Roman historians such as Tacitus and Strabo to renown Muslim theologians from the Islamic Golden Age like As-Suyuti, Al-Qurtubi, Ibn Kathir, and Ibn Jarir. Memoirs of our nation's founding fathers such as Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and others are studied.
The book is unique because it is an amalgamation of religious and historical texts which are used to amass the in-depth perspective as to what true Black American identity is. The reader will find the book sagacious and wise, as it will leave you with a sense of enlightenment and satisfaction from the revealed information that has been presented.
Although it is a religious history book that focuses on Black American identity, any and all are welcome to read it. Not only does the book appertain to Black Americans, it also provides eye-opening information to the followers of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, which will make them reflect and seek out the concealed truth.
