About the Book

"Nasza Podroz Do Lepszego Swiata", Polish translation of "Our Journey to the Better World", by Magdalena Kocemba-Augustyniak illustrates the struggle for one's survival in 20th/ 21st century. It suggests that humankind could make the world he/ she is living in a lot better but it takes the joint efforts of not only the little, or middle man, deemed to be a player but especially those who spin the universe. If men would stop enslaving other men, in the name of liberty, whatever it may be, much of the 21st century drama could be avoided. What the society needs today is to rejuvenate "the child's world", the world where each individual, adult or a child, feels loved and secure. Happiness begins within one's family, no matter what the size of it, and then, when properly nourished, it radiates to the entire society. If the society learns to respect the private lives of its core, the family, it will thus create healthy individuals and the nation as a whole. The book describes in great detail what the human mind can do to one's self when pushed to the borderline
About the Author: Magdalena Augustyniak was born on 02/24/1956 in Nowy Sacz, Poland to Jan Eugeniusz and Wladyslawa Kocemba, residing in the village of Kamionka Wielka. She is the sister of six siblings, four sisters: Marta Moranska, Maria Gorska, Matylda Ziemborak, and Monika Pazgan; as well as two brothers: Marek Kocemba and Maciej Kocemba. Magdalena graduated with honors from Grammar School #1 in Kamionka Wielka in 1971 and went to High School, II Liceum Ogolnoksztalcace Imieniem Marii Konopnickiej in Nowy Sacz. She majored in Math and Physics. She was a very good student, and excelled in both, Polish language and Math. In her life she must have read at least a hundred of books and most of them belonged to her grandfather, Jozef. She found them on his attic. He was always her idol. She was broken-hearted, then, when he passed away on 02/29/1972 at the age of 86. Shortly after, on 07/03/1973 she lost her grandmother, Stefania Kocemba to whom she was very close too. From her youngest years, she had a difficulty dealing with the concept of death, so her father's death on 09/04/1982 was the biggest blow. Her maternal grandfather, Franciszek Ptak she never even knew because he died when her mother was only 15 years of age. He left his wife, Katarzyna Ptak with 10 children. Magdalena could never forget her mother's stories how she and her siblings were always starving. The saddest part of the story was, though, that her grandmother Katarzyna received a lump sum payment after her husband's death and it would have made them rich if it wasn't for the government changing the currency value. Anyway, Magdalena grew up in hardship too but at the same time in the loving family atmosphere. In July of 1974 she came to America to her father's cousin, Mary Augustyniak who sponsored her for a housekeeping job, to help her family. Thanks to one lady, named Jean Palermo who spoke on her behalf to her aunt, she was able to finish her fourth year of High School and graduated from Battin in 1976. In the spring of 1978 she met her husband Jozef Augustyniak who came visiting her Aunt Mary and Uncle Al. She fell in love with him and on 05/27/1979 they got married. On 08/06/1980 their first daughter, Angelica was born and three years later on 10/31/1983, their son, Brandon John. on 12/14/1989 Jessica was born. Today, Magdalena still lives in Elizabeth, NJ and has two grandchildren too, Alexander and Anastasia Vazquez, Angelica's children, 20 and 18 years of age in 2016.
