About the Book

Nashawn Breedlove was a rapper, singer, songwriter, and actor who rose to fame for his role as Lotto in the film 8 Mile, where he faced off against Eminem in a rap battle. Born in New Jersey, Breedlove has had a passion for music and hip-hop since he was young. He started his career as a member of the rap group The Now, which gained recognition in the underground scene. He later adopted the stage name Ox and collaborated with artists like Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg on the soundtrack of the film The Wash. Breedlove's breakthrough came in 2002, when he was cast as Lotto in 8 Mile, a film loosely based on Eminem's life. Breedlove impressed audiences with his charisma and skill as he delivered witty and aggressive lines against Eminem's character, B-Rabbit. Although he lost the battle in the film, he won the respect and admiration of many fans and critics. Breedlove's performance earned him a cult following and a place in hip-hop history. Breedlove was not only a talented rapper but also a gifted singer and songwriter. He had a smooth and soulful voice that could rival Luther Vandross, according to his former girlfriend, Latisha Harper. He also wrote songs for himself and other artists, showcasing his versatility and creativity. Breedlove was a devoted father to his son, Zaakir, who inherited his musical talent and passion. Breedlove died unexpectedly at the age of 46, leaving behind a legacy of art and inspiration. His mother, Patricia, described him as a remarkable man whose character and strength inspired all who crossed his path. His fans and peers paid tribute to him on social media, remembering him for his tenacity and aggressiveness. Breedlove was a rapper, singer, songwriter, and actor who performed opposite Eminem in 8 Mile, but more importantly, he was a son, a father, and a friend who touched many lives with his talent and spirit.
