About the Book

In 2017 I formed the idea of Narrow Thicket Tales, as a way to homage an Orwellian styled socio-political animal kingdom of Animal Farm. However, it wasn't until 2019 that I finished the project, I suppose re-sitting my final year at a university, writing & producing music as Mad Panda, starting my own Creative Arts company Oneirataxia ltd. and every other commitment one has to maintain, stopped me. I, probably selfishly, think too there is something unique about unfinished work, and that its completion is actually the death of its living spirit, in that it is now unchangeable. The shape that it casts as a shadow dies through it's birth, and I guess I liked think of this world and these character extremely fondly; hoping in some ways that I would never have to leave this story I had been crafting. I started to feel safe with these character occurring my mind every so often, and I would think of various ways to extrapolate storylines and things they would do. and In this way was their adventure infinite, for I could have it anyway I wanted. The beauty of control. Prologue: Narrow Thicket is the only remaining independent and unregistered forest lasting on British Domain. It is a peaceful existence that the members of Narrow Thicket enjoy most, being harmonious with nature and one with themselves. The last few sun cycles have been hard for Narrow Thicket and its inhabitants, as worsening weathers and heats have played havoc with their natural ways of life and survival. Narrow Thicket is home to all sort of creatures that care deeply for one another. Whom have a desire to use their knowledges to endure the best lives for all of its members. Though the ideation of this belief is strong, the reality can sometimes exist as a mirror of the truth. It is for this reason and many more than Mr Sparks values evidence above all, and so he must to survive.Synopsis: Narrow Thicket begins with British Orange Fox Mr. Sparks, retelling a tale of one his earliest memories of Narrow Thicket Forest, at home in his Bungle-Burrow, during particularly 'hurricane-like weather' outside. In his tale, Mr Sparks, discovers a secret about the protected and ancient The Mystic Magnolia Timberlands. Mr Sparks' acceptance of this power is at the heart of his belief in the strength of community in Narrow Thicket, and especially between its members. Mr Sparks, a proud member of the Tickets Eco-Summit Committee, and of its attendance and at the advice of his advisor Oswald the Branch Owl, manages to find himself on a life-endangering journey to discover the answer to why their weather climate is continually worsening? He uses all his wit and honesty to navigate this imaginary world of magic and wonder, to attain enlightenment, and so he might be able to prove to his fellow members of Narrow Thicket the importance of Evidence Based Claims. In which he wants to prove a correlation, with evidence, between the claims of the peoples tongues and the reality of the situation. On Mr Sparks' journey into the Fur-less lands he meets chance encounter Nina Wa, a foreign white fox imported into the UK for domestication. In her disbelief at Mr Sparks' naivety, for him to actually believe himself capable of inciting change to their ways, she offers to guide him to Everlyn Hope. The only Fur-less, that Nina knows will treat him fairly. I hope you find what you seek. kind regards, S. R. Gur
