About the Book

This book addresses the issue of talking to your children about dying and death. When a parent knows what to say and do, they have more confidence in dealing with their child in a difficult situation. Such issues are addressed as what to watch for in your children during the loss and becoming aware of the emotions they will experience. These are the topic of two chapters. Another chapter deals with talking points for preparing your child to attend the funeral and what they can expect. This book concludes with discussion about the grieving process and how to address it for both yourself and your child. If you are considering this book, it is because you have concerns about either how to talk to your child about death or what you need to say to them. This book will definitely assist you in calming some of your apprehension.
About the Author: James is a retired pastor and has served as a hospice chaplain for three years. He has a vast amount of experience in working with the dying and being there for those who have faced the death of a loved ones. His experience has given him not just insight into the needs of hurting people, but also a heart for them. This concern is obvious throughout this book. He has lived and served in Michigan all his life. He pastored for 39 years in the thumb region of Michigan. His first wife, Nancy, died after they were married more than 43 years. He has two daughters and five grandchildren. Watching his wife die, and helping his adult children and grandchildren through their grief has given him added insight into this topic.
