Dazu werden verschiedene Hypothesen überprüft, darunter die Annahme, dass die Generation Z andere Interessen hat als vorherige Generationen, dass soziale Medien die heutige Berichterstattung beeinflussen, dass die Tagesschau ihren Auftrag als öffentlich-rechtlicher Sender erfüllt und dass eine individuelle Berichterstattung auf verschiedenen Social Media-Plattformen stattfindet. In diesem Kontext wird die Generationenforschung näher beleuchtet, um die Merkmale der Generationen Babyboomer, X, Y und Z zu verstehen. Besonderes Augenmerk wird auf das mediale Kommunikationsverhalten der Generation Z gelegt. Zudem wird der Nachrichtenwert als zentrales Konzept für die Nachrichtenproduktion betrachtet. Die Tagesschau wird als Fallstudie verwendet, da sie als erstes Nachrichtenmedium auf Instagram eine Million Abonnenten erreichte und erfolgreich auf TikTok präsent ist. Gleichzeitig verzeichnete die Hauptausgabe der Tagesschau um 20:00 Uhr 2021 Rekordquoten. Die Forschungsmethodik umfasst eine zweiwöchige Medienbeobachtung, in der die tägliche Berichterstattung auf den wichtigsten Kanälen der Tagesschau dokumentiert wird. Am Ende dieser Arbeit sollen nicht nur die Forschungsfragen beantwortet und die Hypothesen überprüft werden, sondern es soll auch ein besseres Verständnis für die moderne Berichterstattung in den deutschen Medien geschaffen werden. Die vorliegende Arbeit ist somit ein Beitrag zur Erforschung der neuen Medienlandschaft und der sich wandelnden Nachrichtenkonsumgewohnheiten, insbesondere in Bezug auf die Generation Z.
