Aunque es un conjunto de novelas, la historia tratada aquí es una narración independiente. La novela trata de la forma en que los boleros influencian a una mujer gorda y negra en los años 50. El tema central por todas sus lineas es el erotísmo. Si bien la protagonista no es una mujer típicamente erótica, es muy fuerte, negra y nada que la gente en ese tiempo viera como atractivo. El escenario en la novela es el club "nocturno" en Las Vegas en los años cincuenta. Para hacer una hipnosis de la trama de la historia está el fotógrafo Códac que ve la Estrella, la mujer negra, que canta boleros fabulosamente y él se siente abrumado. La música es el tema central porque la toca a todos los visitantes en el club y la gente allí habla sobre la cantante y su música. Por consiguiente en este trabajo se analiza la conexión entre la música y su efecto en las personas que la escuchan. Primero se presentará el Autor Guillermo Cabrera Infantes para entender la relación entre el autor y sus historias y en especial los temas que hay en el intento de sus cuentos. Seguidamente, se dará una pequeña descripción sobre la trata y las personas en la historia. Los capítulos más importantes tratan sobre la música. Por un lado se escribirá sobre el bolero en general, por ejemplo su origen y la definición, por otro lado que sentido tiene el bolero en el cuento, ya que es el tema central de este estudio. Por último hay un pequeño conclusión que sintetíza como la música puede funcionar y cual efecto tiene la música en la gente. El trabajo debe presentar la importancia de la música a lo largo de la historia, y también la gran presencia del bolero en los años cincuenta en Latinoamérica. Aunque hoy en
