Vemos que no es sencillo comprender, mucho menos enseñar la realidad de la presencia de unos 50 millones de hispanoparlantes en los Estados Unidos de Norteamérica. ¿Qué representa la presencia de esta minoría en constante aumento y el sentido de la otredad que muchos estadounidenses deben asimilar ante las implicaciones en el futuro cercano? Si fueran la mayoría de los hispanos ciudadanos de los Estados Unidos de Norteamérica, ¿los aceptarían como parte de los suyos, o siempre serían "otros" independientemente de su estatus migratorio? Cuando se trata de comprender las relaciones de los Estados Unidos de Norteamérica con su vecino del sur, México, la tarea del profesor mexicano es igual de complicada. ¿Puede el profesor mexicano apartarse de su identidad y de su visión del mundo al tratar de comprender y enseñar temas al respecto? ¿Cuáles son las implicaciones de la enseñanza-aprendizaje en contextos interculturales, especialmente cuando las partes son desiguales? About the Author: Abel Navarrete Benítez, originario del Estado de Guerrero, México. Licenciado en Lengua Inglesa por la UQRoo (2000), Maestro en Educación por la UPN (2006), y Diplomado para la Enseñanza del Francés, por la UNAM y el IFAL (2010). Actualmente labora como Profesor-Investigador de Carrera en la Universidad Intercultural Maya de Quintana Roo. Ha publicado artículos sobre la enseñanza-aprendizaje del inglés y francés en el XIX Foro de Especialistas Universitarios en Lenguas (FEULE), organizado por la Universidad Autónoma de Colima en 2005; en la Revista Educación y Ciencia de la Facultad de Educación de la Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán en 2008; en el XI Encuentro Nacional de Estudios en Lenguas (ENAEL) organizado por la Universidad Autónoma de Tlaxcala en 2010; y en el Primer Congreso Internacional de Educación, organizado por la Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua en 2012.
