About the Book

Is this book that different from the thousands of books already written about Yoga? Have I anything new to add to the bonfire of vanities?

In fact, this book is not even about Yoga, not the type anyway that most people associate with Yoga.
Let me start with a thumping great big claim, like a trumpet at the start of a medieval joust.
Yoga is a bridge between the finite and infinite.

It's not about religion, but rather an experience that draws inspiration from spiritual traditions originating thousands of years ago that are still relevant nowadays. Yoga always follows one premise: 'ekam sat', meaning there are only truths; nothing else exists besides what you think at this very moment (or present) itself.
That's it. Yoga is the Truth without claiming copywrite.
Everything is Yoga, but we have to start somewhere, in our human form. How they practice Yoga in distant galaxies is none of our concern.
The one truth we all seek is elusive in an ever-changing world of raindrops, clouds, shifting sand and waves on the surface of the ocean. The only constant is change itself, which leads us down a path where there are many different 'available' perspectives on any given topic or situation - some validating your thoughts while others trying their best not to let them go unchallenged.
What's important here? That YOU define what reality means for YOU through honest communication with those around you so they can share in this journey

This is original Yoga, radical but practical, extreme yet realistic, transcendental and mystical, as envisaged in Yoga Sutras thousands of years, in another more contemplative age. Mystic Yoga sets aside the Yoga poses and the cult of the mat and instead looks back at a more ancient tradition from its origins in the hot dusty plains of India, analysing Yoga's place in a rich vein of spirituality to modern times.
It's about transcendence and gurus, A reality check and a time to review our purpose on this planet,
Jargon-free except when necessary but not holding back in describing the path to higher awareness. Transcendental, beyond reason and logic, to a mystic homeland.

And yet the teaching of Yoga has been dumbed down for mass market consumption. Billions of yoga mats have been sold. Yoga wear is good business. And if you got a popular YouTube channel, you can ditch your alarm clock and quit your day job.
Nevertheless, it is something that I seek to address because I believe in its power. Yoga has the ability to change lives and help people connect with their higher selves. The practice is not easy, but it is worth the effort. The rewards are great.

Mysticism is the gateway to spiritual magnificence. Greatness is achieved when we set aside the ego and preconceptions that limit us and allow ourselves to become one with the infinite. We become connected to the planetary ecosystem when we remove the psychological barriers that stand between us and the environment.

This is the essence of Yoga, the beating heart of an ancient practice that remains relevant after two millennia
An old friend, the truest friend.
