His first book, A Proud Heritage, the James Ansel Vinson Family Story, was published in 1999, and his nostalgic poetry has appeared in newspapers, magazines, and books locally, nationally, and internationally. In 2004 he was recognized in The International Who's Who In Poetry, and was featured in their annual publication (Waterman Press, Owings Mills, Maryland, USA).
