About the Book

On July 29, 1968, six distinguished scientists, including J. Allen Hynek, Carl Sagan, and James E. McDonald, met before the Committee on Science and Astronautics, in the House of Representatives at Washington, D.C. In addition, six scientists of note, including Stanton T. Friedman and Robert L. Hall, were invited to submit prepared statements to the committee to be entered into the Congressional record.

This meeting of prestigious scientific-minded individuals, held under the moniker, "Symposium on Unidentified Flying Objects," ran for an entire day and included numerous question-and-answer periods, along with several free discussions amongst the participants, who ranged from ardent true believers, to lukewarm UFO "agnostics," to hostile non-believers.

Many will assume that the information discussed at this 56 year old conference is now thoroughly out of date. But as the award-winning editor, UFO researcher, UFO eyewitness, and UFO author Lochlainn Seabrook shows in his in-depth book Mysterious Invaders, the opposite is true. Due to entrenched scientific skepticism and fear of public ridicule, almost no advancement in our knowledge of UFOs has occurred since 1968! This makes this unique, illustrated book edition of the symposium-filled with both vital and fascinating material on what our 20th-Century scientists called "the UFO Problem"-an all-important work on early UAP research that every student of astronomy and ufology will want in their collection.

Seabrook includes a helpful introduction, source notes, a comprehensive index, an all-inclusive bibliography, and detailed appendices. Pick up your copy and learn the truth about "flying saucers" from those who scientifically studied them during the 1950s and 1960s and chronicled their shocking findings in this still highly relevant material. Mysterious Invaders: Twelve Famous 20th-Century Scientists Confront the UFO Phenomenon is available in paperback and hardcover. (All text copyright (c) Sea Raven Press)

Award-winning historian Lochlainn Seabrook is the author and editor of nearly 100 books, including: UFOs and Aliens: The Complete Guidebook; The Martian Anomalies: A Photographic Search for Intelligent Life on Mars; The Concise Book of Owls: A Guide to Nature's Most Mysterious Birds; Seabrook's Bible Dictionary of Traditional and Mystical Christian Doctrines; Jesus and the Gospel of Q; Abraham Lincoln Was a Liberal, Jefferson Davis Was a Conservative; Everything You Were Taught About the Civil War is Wrong, Ask a Southerner!, Aphrodite's Trade: The Hidden History of Prostitution Unveiled; Britannia Rules: Goddess-Worship in Ancient Anglo-Celtic Society; Christ Is All and In All: Rediscovering Your Divine Nature and the Kingdom Within; Christmas Before Christianity: How the Birthday of the "Sun" Became the Birthday of the "Son"; Secrets of Celebrity Surnames: An Onomastic Dictionary of Famous People; The Bible and the Law of Attraction: 99 Teachings of Jesus, the Apostles, and the Prophets; Victorian Hernia Cures: Nonsurgical Self-Treatment of Inguinal Hernia; Jesus and the Law of Attraction; Vintage Southern Cookbook: 2,000 Delicious Dishes From Dixie; North America's Amazing Mammals: An Encyclopedia for the Whole Family; America's Three Constitutions: Complete Texts of the Articles of Confederation, Constitution of the United States of America, and Constitution of the Confederate States of America; Everything You Were Taught About American Slavery is Wrong, Ask a Southerner!
