About the Book

In "My Yoga of Expression," Karnamrita's free verse poem book, he shares his struggles, successes, doubts, and faith in life, relationships, love, and in his spiritual practices. Opening the book is like opening a mystic portal, where if one reads, they can journey into a spiritual practitioner's heart where he deeply shares who he is as a person. This is his world of a Bhakta (one who practices Bhakti Yoga) consisting of wisdom and insights gleaned from 46 years of his endeavors for divine service interspersed with personal growth work, the struggle to find material and spiritual balance, and his search for his essential and empowered calling. His current cancer diagnosis has given a needed push into his life's direction of writing and speaking. Karnamrita is writing daily with new urgency that is reflected in this book, and in his speaking tours around the country and the world. Through meditations on Nature, interpersonal relationships, and the interplay of life and death, he presents an intriguing example of how one's authentic human life can revolve around spiritual practice. He shows how learning to love unconditionally can be a part of our day-to-day activities. As Karnamrita writes, "Everything can teach us / if we are aware."
About the Author: After years practicing bhakti, or devotional, yoga, Karnamrita Das understood his need for personal growth and healing from a difficult past. As a result he spent years in therapy, reading self-help books, journaling, and practicing deep introspection and prayer. Making peace with his past and offering radical forgiveness, he learned to see the special value his upbringing gave him to help others. He was trained in many energy-healing and alternative health modalities, such as Reiki, hypnotherapy, Emotional Release Therapy, and healing prayer. Thus, he incorporates healing and personal growth into his life, writing, and service to others. He and his wife have been living an idyllic life for the last thirteen years on four acres of land in rural North Carolina. Here they commune with and learn from Nature, while serving God according to their understanding-in life and in relationships. They focus on their bhakti yoga practices, meditate through divine sound by mantra (japa), sing in kirtan, study the Vedic texts on loving devotion, and bring this into personal growth and counseling work with individuals and couples. Karnamrita has been inspiring readers in his blogs for the last nine years on Krishna.com and Facebook. In 2012 he compiled 90 blog entries into a book, the title of which-Give to Live-is a code for how he endeavors to live, love, and serve. His current free verse poem book, "My Yoga of Expression," was waiting for the opportune time to be published. His current health crisis provided a moving catalyst to manifest it. Facing his possible demise he has gained many realizations about the value of life, the present moment, and taking action now. In November of 2015, he was diagnosed with stage 3 squamous cell cancer, which changed his life radically. Embarking on a study of cancer and alternative treatments, Karnamrita altered his diet accordingly and adopted many protocols to strengthen his immune system and fight cancer. He traveled to a cancer clinic in Mexico for further treatment which is ongoing. Most importantly, he realized that to fulfill his life's purpose he needed to write and speak more. Thus, Karnamrita is currently on a speaking tour to share his realizations about various spiritual and personal growth topics. His primary theme is, "How Facing Death Can Help One Live More Fully Today."
