Commonly known as Matt Smith, he is an English actor, known best for his role in the 11th edition of Dr who, a BBC science-fiction series. Originally Matt wanted to be a professional footballer, but Spondylolysis, a defect of the vertebrae, prevented him from pursuing the sport. Originally, Matt did not want to accept a career as an actor as he didn't view it as socially acceptable. But he's drama teacher, convinced him to studied drama. He first studied creative writing at the University of East Angular, he eventually did join the National youth Theatre to study acting. His acting career started in 2003 when landing a part in the play 'Murder in the Cathedral', also 'Fresh Kills', 'On The Shore of the Wide World', and 'History Boys'. Matt's first TV role was in 2006, when he played in the BBC's 'The Ruby in the Smoke'. From there Matt went on to play in a stage adaptation of 'Swimming with Sharks', a year later Matt performed what was to become a critically acclaimed performance, in 'That Face'. He received a BAFTA award nomination in 2011. In 2015, he portrayed the physical embodiment and a holographic version of 'Skynet', in the film 'Terminator Genisys'. Matt Smith as played roles in many films, television, theatre, and provided voice over's in the videogame versions of 'Doctor Who', and achieved 4 award's, which include: 'SFX Awards' 2011, 'Best Actor' 2012, 'Outstanding Drama Performance: Male' 2012, and 'Drama Performance' 2014.
