Del Olmo es un inspector veterano, tiene el culo pelao como dice uno de sus subordinados, y está en una etapa de su vida en la que no está seguro ni de su sombra.

La subinspectora Saavedra es una recién llegada al Grupo de Homicidios de la Brigada de los Delitos Contra las Personas, pero no una novata en la policía. Lleva muchos anos peleando por hacerse un hueco en el cuerpo, y su trabajo en otros departamentos la avala. Por no hablar de su llegada triunfal a Homicidios, en la que descubrió una pieza clave para atrapar al colaborador de un peligroso asesino.

Los dos son las cabezas visibles del segundo Grupo de Homicidios de la UDEV Central. Otros compañeros los respaldan y colaboran en el que será el caso de su vida.

Todo bajo la supervisión del comisario Alamillos, ya en el ocaso de su carrera. El comisario no quiere abandonar el Cuerpo con una mancha en su expediente. No atrapar al asesino del empresario más poderoso del país, y uno de los más grandes del mundo, supondría un grave fracaso. Por ello la cúpula policial y las altas esferas del país le presionarán más de lo que deberían.
