Aspekte der Geschichte multinationaler Unternehmen, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Im Folgenden sollen die Unterschiede der beiden US-Firmen Ford und General Motors herausgearbeitet werden. Dies soll mittels der Methode des synchronen Vergleichs geschehen. Ein Vergleich der beiden Automobilhersteller liegt nahe, da sie in etwa zur selben Zeit gegründet wurden und im untersuchten Zeitraum die beiden wichtigsten Automobilhersteller der USA waren, aber sich in vielen Hinsichten, wie etwa der Firmenstruktur und Produktpolitik unterschieden. Durch den Vergleich kann auch beantwortet werden, weshalb es General Motors gelang, den lange Zeit unangefochtenen Konkurrenten Ford schließlich zu überholen. Was den Vergleich erschwert ist, dass die beiden Unternehmen zeitlich versetzt und unter völlig verschiedenen Rahmenbedingungen Erfolg hatten. Da beide Unternehmen schon sehr früh Auslandsaktivitäten aufnahmen und sich als internationale Unternehmen verstanden, wird insbesondere herausgearbeitet, wie sich die multinationale Strategie der beiden Automobilhersteller unterscheidet. Der Untersuchungszeitraum der Arbeit umfasst die Zeit von der Gründung von Ford 1903, beziehungsweise von GM 1908, bis zum Beginn des 2. Weltkrieges, wobei der Schwerpunkt bezüglich der Auslandsaktivitäten in den 1920ern liegt. Methode des Vergleichs Da für den Vergleich der multinationalen Strategie Fords und GMs in der Literatur ausreichend Informationen zu finden sind, werden hier keine Primärquellen herangezogen. Aufschlussreicher wäre es, die Fragestellung mittels Arbeit in den Archiven der beiden Unternehmen, die sich aber im Ausland befinden, zu beantworten.
